Hi,

 

Try change you radiator cap to 1.3Bar........... and see what happen!!!!

This will help to decrease the pressure..

 

Oh & just ensure that your radiator cap is 0.9 bar which is standard for jap cars.

Wah 1.3 bar???? Why he need such high pressure & high temp???? That will overload the cooling system.

Ok update, brought the car to my usual mech today, he too said there was a slight leak on my radiator. Paid $30 to get my spare radiator+fan swapped in and the car seems ok now, though it is an extremely hot day, I didnt see an increase in temp all the way home. Now just have to monitor I guess, hope that all is fine now

So u used Ah Ting? Yup he's a good mech. I used him many years already. Very experienced too.

 

I prefer the older mechs cos they got the experience to trouble-shoot.

So you recommend I try use a 1.1 or 1.3 bar radiator cap? Using one would mean that more pressure would be put on my cooling system rite? In my old car, I wonder if that is wise?

I strongly dont recommend a higher pressure cap. It will cause many problems cos your system made to run on 0.9 bar.

 

Check your Owners Manual. I sud state what is the operating pressure for your cooling system. Stick to it.

Sian man, drove to Bugis area today after fixing the radiator, problem still seems to be there, although not that severe. In h/way driving it was perfectly fine, but once I hit start-stop traffic, i noticed the needle move up to 1/2 mark and stay around there. A few times caught it jump to 3/4 then back.

 

Could it be that my engine is producing more heat now and the usual cooling technique is not enough? Cuz I'm not too sure at what temp my radiator fan kicks in, is it possible for me to get some sort of switch installed to control the fan myself manually?

 

Basically before this, my temp needle used to STAY at 1/3 mark regardless of how I drove

liquid under pressure... when released it turns into steam, more than 100degC

 

recently, i left a 10/12mm wrench in my engine bay and drove ard for the whole day before realising..

 

now i put all tools back after use..

have u checked your thermostat? different from thermoswitch (which controls your fan)

 

i think there's a blockage somewhere.. that's why when you're at idle, the water can't flow properly, leading to the needle rising.

 

when u're cruising, the engine isn't working much either, and the air cools everything down.. so flow is not really a problem.

 

the fan for swift kicks in at 98 deg if i'm not wrong? my radiator fan relay switch also gave up on me during CNY06.. fan didn't work, suspected the motor at first

 

idle at traffic lights and the temp would reach over 120. drove on expressway and temp maintained at 90
