HI, mind sharing how much you got for the oil and where to get. Thanks

Oil sells for $90, got it at Stamford Tyres.

Good choice of brand but not sure if the 10W-50 is the best viscosity selection for your ride if yours is a LPT. I would say a 5W-30 or at most 5W-40 would be better. With a 10W-50 your FC would definitely suffer somewhat especially if you have been using a thinner oil. [sweatdrop]

Based on my own experience with this Xrev brand for 2 oil changes now, the oil should last you 10,000km provided that the mechanic followed the instructions and gave the bottle a good shake before pouring the contents into the engine. This will ensure that all the good stuff (additives) gets into the engine [thumbsup]

Think he did. They're experienced mechs. So far so good with the oil. It's been only 4 days though. Musdt wait longer then I post another review here.

Not really true. When the whole formulation is still in the bottle, there's no reaction and so some settling does take place. But when it is applied to the engine, heat causes the additives to react/bond with metal. Ester has similar properties of clinging to metal, and that's why (inter alia) it has such a good base oil. Some brands also carry similar instructions to the workshops - eg Castrol's Edge. This is what I understand from one of the workshops (I go to) which carries both brands.

Yep, I asked the same question and according to their website which carries a specific section on this, no teflon or moly disulphide - fully liquid additive.

Yes, I saw that listing too. But that doesn't tell you the full picture. That is a listing of the licensee which is normally the manufacturing entity. So which corporate entity Xrev has chosen as an API licensee - we don't know...unless we are diligent enough to go down every single entry in the list [hur]

In addition, API standards are very well known and established in the industry. Many major players don't even bother to submit their latest formulations for testing and licensing. Take for example - Castrol Syntec 0W-30 made in Germany. Now you don't see this in the API listing but that doesn't mean it's a bad oil nor does the fact that Castrol Germany is not on the API licensee list (altho' other Castrol entities are) mean that it is a bogus manufacturer. Far from it!

It's a corporate decision of each manufacturer as to how they set up their licensing arrangements. As we all know, API listing is not the be all and end all of lubricant standards.

That's why they should get rid of the no oil test, too gimicky. If the oil is good, the specs speak for themselves. Full polyol ester oil is not cheap. Anyway, I am using the 5W-30 X-Rev oil right now. What a world of difference from the previous C**lube 5W-30 I was using. Immediate smoothness and lightness were felt. Must be the ester and the "all liquid" additive playing a role. Of course, I would rather know what the all liquid additive is, but I trust X-Rev in saying that it's not moly or teflon or those gimmicky stuffs in TV ads.

Bro

Read the website properly, its not A company from the States ... its oil FORMULATION is FROM the States ... BIG difference leh ... [;)]

Wateva it is, its still very 'local' and really suspect what type of 'additive' is added. [sly]

Check out the "MISSION STATEMENT". [laugh]

yeah...yeah...we've all seen this before. We can all be great arm-chair critics...or in this case forum critics. But if the product works, then its good. And it's quite obvious in lubes whether it works or not. There seems to be enough people in this forum who have actually tried it and had good feedback. I tried it twice. The negative comments comes from those who haven't. Of course, there are other good oils around. So let's leave the decision back in the hands of the consumer. [gossip]

The problem is that it is not API EOLCS listed. Those who are using Carloob and any oil that not API approved oil in their cars run a great risk. Granted that no local car has ever broke down so far due to lubricant issues save for the VW 1.8T engines (a lot in the US). You never know with the car stealerships here. They will and can pick on anything just to refuse your claim to the warranty.

Damn stealers!

Bro

Its not about critic-ing and whether the lube work or not.

Its about INTEGRITY of the oil.

Look, Trex and Genie highlighted that they're not even listed on API EOLCS - this is the check and balance of oil companies which would like to market their products.

Yeah, those who have tried - i've really nothing against it. But we're talking about being "smart" consumers here and have a question or two about the integrity of their products.

I'm sure you all remember about Slick50 and other oils that were brought before FTC (Federal Trade Comms) - purpotedly to be misleading public and also some oils have TEFLON which will eventually clog up your valves and etc.

Who knows what these new oils have? I'm not saying that its bad or it contains all of the above, i'm just saying that it should provide more information rather than just saying its using a Class V Ester-based oil. One wonders what 'additive' they're using [sweatdrop]

My 2 cents.

p.s. Just being a careful consumer ... afterall, the engine oil is your car's life-blood! [;)]

The thing is for X-Rev to focus on the lubricating properties of its oil, and not make wild advertising claims beyond what it can do like moly, teflon, duralube, slick50, motorup, and other oil evangelists. It's is after all just a premium engine oil. The UOA will show just that, I'm sure.
