Perodua Kelisa 1.0M

OMV - $5.5K

So OPC rebate is $5.5K x 1.1 (OMV) + $5.2K (COE) = $11,250

Normal Car price $30,700 - $11,250 = $19,450

Might as well get a Nissan Sunny 1.6M which has higher OMV of $11,000, no prob getting $17K rebate : $39,500 - $17,000 = $22,500

How about Swift Sports from CM?

Was qouted $39500 after minus off $17000.

Normal price is 56500.

OMV - $12.5k (around that region)

OPC rebate is 12.5 x 1.1(OMV) + 5.2k (COE) = 18950?

So wu hua boh?

with the following COE crash, OPC car like VIOS/lancer can get easily for 25k after AD adjust the new pricing. i wonder if anyone did the calculation, if someone gets the OPC car and used $20 coupon everyday, it would actually be much cheaper than regular car!

eg, 52 weeks a year = 100 sat/sun

approx 11 holidays a year

total days that can use OPC car = 110 days.

total days that have to use $20 coupon = 365-110 = 250 days

even if u use $20 coupon EVERYDAY for 250 days = $5000!!!

so in short your OPC car is actually only $30k and can use for everyday compared to a normal car costing about $42k?? the hassle is of course to tear the coupon everyday.

elite driver would hate you!

to me..the freedom to drive the car 24/7 is the way to go...

esp if u are a family man..and emergencies do occur..when u nid to send the wife to hospital...

or the kid to hospital..or when the aged parents nids ur immiediate attention...

unless it is lets say ur 2nd car ...or u haf a bike to move around...

else get a regular plate car if u can afford one

but it is still to each his own...no offense to anyone

I agree with you. [nod]

You based your calculations based on a 1 year period only.

Over 10 yr period, annual rebate for OPC is only $1700, how can it cover the $5,000?

need your input.... [wave] my neighbour, a pilot, wish to buy a 12yrs old COE car

as he seldom in town (frequent flyer) and he intend to convert from normal plate to

Off-Peak (OPC) car.

any idea how much is the conversion fees cost? thank U [nod]

Post: if i m not wrong,u can convert OPC to normal plate but not vice versa......

I'm quite sure you can convert both ways. OPC to normal, or normal to OPC.

The latter involves paying a pro-rated amount of 17k, the latter involves getting a PARF rebate (i.e. not cash), pro-rated.

I'm not sure, however , if one can convert a COE-car to an OPC. I think not.
