OPC rule state that you cannot drive during Peak Hours without a Valid Coupon.... so technically, even you move an inch during Peak hour with putting a valid coupon, you have committed an offence.... but the thing is, who is there to see and know...

 

Anyway, it's always not adivsable to drive an OPC car, cos changes of stopping by TP is the highest even if you place the S$20 coupon. If you're suan...and see many TPs in a day, and all stop you just to check your coupon

Just a qns to help to ask for my colleague. He was being stopped by TP this morning for driving a OPC car as he went to collect this car from the workshop this morning, but being booked by TP for not tearing off the coupon entirely, though he tored the couple and fold it backward, as he just bought his new car, cleaned and vaccued so doesn't wanna dirty his car, but TP gonna booked him for doing so.

 

Qns; How much will be the fine for doing so? I told my colleague to TP, this is as though you are trying to cheat by folding backward (it's tored and fold, not just folding backward) , though you can appeal to the court as you just bought ya car, just cleaned ya car, and doesn't wanna make it dirty.

 

Was he honestly going to discard the folded coupon at the end of the day, or would he think.....well, now that i've not torn the coupon yet, I can keep it for another day?

 

Ask him to search his conscience and ask himself. How about car park coupons? Does he fold them over as well?

 

At the end of the day, he can feel bitter, either because his fastidious clean-car nature cost him a few thousand dollars, or he got caught while trying to cheat on $20.

 

First, i'm sured he will discard the folded coupon (he didn't just folded the coupon, but instead, he tored it and fold back, so his intention is not to dirty his car, and not cheating)at the end of the day, as i have mentioned in my post. He's new car owner, and after collecting his car on the day, he has to rush to office for our meeting as we are rushing him too. So as a new car owner, cheating didn't came up his mind at all.

belly good...! want to save a few bucks and abuse the system. saw a OPC Fit ytd afternoon kanna booked, before that he was squeeze in between lanes and change lane without signalling..juz exit suay suay the TP behind him. these opc drivers no need pity them, get 17K rebate still want to cheat. abusing the system and jam the roads with us, want to drive on normal hours get a normal car instead of cheating.

even if he were to tear it and throw it in the car, I believe the tabs are big enough to be picked up later right?

 

unless you tell me those tabs disintegrate easily, like those you would use as a seal for sealing envelops.

what the problem for TP to stop OPC driver? if you really only need OPC car, that mean u sedlom use it during day time.

 

I personally drive a OPC, I'm never stop by TP before.(I always use cupon)

 

cheating the OPC system is just like cheating the parking system.

if its not tored off and can be fold, does it mean can fold back to original position?

 

watever the case, better dun aggravate it by giving excuses.. ask your friend to start practising asking for leniency in front of the mirror.. his quantum of fine will depend on his performance that day infront of the judge.

 

dun put valid coupon still easy to ask for leniency, just say forgot, new driver, or some crappy excuse..

 

but having a tampered coupon.. this one very hard to pull thru la cuz the intent to cheat difficult to disprove.. just like killing a person.. manslaughter, no intent to kill, some jail time n canning.. murder with intent? death sentence

Maybe i should say not encourage. There's no problem in using OPC car though, just that i said if one is really so unlucky and being stop by TP many in a day. Though it's not a big issue, but just troublesome.

That's what i didn't know.The only think my coll complain was that he was booked by TP, and he has no intention of cheating at all. Though tabs will not disintegrate, but i believe cheating doesn't come into his mind at all, just that he wanna keep his car clean at all times, being a new car driver. And of course, being lazy for not wanting to throw any tabs in his new car at all.

Yeah. That's what i told him too, and he has make many calls to LTA, and TP to check and requiries about his cases. Think it can be solve though..according to LTA's officer, he has to want for the letter first, then appeal. He will be given a officer to investigate his case.

Just few days ago my friend also kena same problem as you, he asked his friend to tear off the cupon, and the year + month was torn fully, then dunno why the day his friend just fold down, sway sway kena spot checked by ROV no waiting for letter

think your coll better start getting ready the $$. I think many pple here have already gave their opinions on the possibility of a hefty fine, or even worse, jail.

 

if your coll were to give the lazy + want to keep the car clean excuse, think there may be a chance that he would get both.

 

everyone would claim that he's innocent when they're caught. that's why the fine is there to make sure you don't even think about trying to do anything funny.
