I think the main concern is not whether the car is genuinely brand new, but rather, is your brand new car accident free?

Other than looking at odometer. Heard it can be resetted once right?

Go to factory, wait at the end of the line and catch the car you want and ship it in.

Confirm new...

BTW, what is your intent in the 1st place?

seems like 1st time owner.... KS rah

Even if it is brand new zro kilometres on the odometer it can still be a lemon due to the number of parts that make up one complete car. Then what? Perhaps you can build your own car on the production line. That would be rather fun imho. [sly]

Don't lose sleep over it lah.

Neutral Newbie

If you mean 'year of manufacture', you can check the tag at the end of seat belt.Usually the tag will state year of manufacture of seat belt. So the SE can not 'xian' that the YOM is 2006 when the seat belt tag state 2005 or earlier. Another way is to chk the production date of tyres....

If you are only worry about whether the car is fresh off the oven, then the VIN number is the most accurate info you need.

They will have something like this:

  • Position 1-3: World Manufacturer Identifier
  • Position 4+10: Body Type
  • Position 5-6: XX
  • Position 7: Line
  • Position 8: Assembly Plant
  • Position 9: Model
  • Position 11: Year
  • Position 12: Month
  • Position 13-17: Production Sequence Number

Your Vehicle Identification Number is like your car's birth certificate.

Different car manufacturers have a slightly different format but you should be able to find the details in your car manual.
