Mivec9 1st Gear May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 Just got high temperature yesterday. After top up, car back to normal..with fan cutting in at the slightly more half mark of the temperature. But when drive long period, the high temp came back. I did a reflush of the coolant suspecting it could be too dilute. Spikedoll Clutched May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 my old civic also encountered this prob.Radiator leak, hoses leak due to the coolant "biting" the hoses as told by mechanic.He said I used bad coolant and never mix properly with water.I didn't know then, I poured whole bottle of coolant into it. Apollo 1st Gear May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 most likely water pump up lorry. 2nd is thermostat not working. did not spring open. try not to switch on aircon too early as the fan cooling may affet the thermostat cut in. 3rd - check engine oil level. make sure the oil dipstick is plant back properly. If you do notice some rough idling or vibration, could be radiator water leaking into combustion chamber. If that need to do a top-overhaul... Try to locate the leak.... Mivec9 1st Gear May 15, 2007 Author Share May 15, 2007 Thanks all bros and sis replies. I changed my water pump late 2005...not sure whether it should spoil so prematurely. Oil level and dipstick ok. Hoses no leaks. The temp valve seems working perfectly..on the fan at slightly more half mark always. Will keep monitoring and keep you guys update. Genie47 1st Gear May 15, 2007 Share May 15, 2007 There is a "weep hole", for the water pump. Know where it is on your engine. Park overnight and see if there is any puddle of colored fluid beneath it. Look for encrusted colored crystals around the cooling system as well. Octopus 3rd Gear May 15, 2007 Share May 15, 2007 I did one around 1 year ago at my usual workshop (I think you know where....), it costs $750 cos other than top overhaul to solve water leaking into combustion chamber, I also did clutch replacement, and engine oil change, gear box oil change, radiator fluid change, replace gearbox oil seal and 1 main oil seal.
