Fortress Clutched August 27, 2007 Share August 27, 2007 Remember when your instructor used to bang on your helmet from the back...
Nutty 4th Gear August 27, 2007 Share August 27, 2007 My instructor didn't just bang me on my helmet. He used a metal bar to bang almost 3/4 of the platoon whenever he felt we are too slow in our actions. I can still feel those vibrations and dizzy feelings now. He told us we can jolly go report him, chances are, no action will be taken as he's "ark kar chee" with those people.
Adrianli Hypersonic August 27, 2007 Share August 27, 2007 My vocation require me to swim at least 100m in coverall or No.4, followed by thread water in the middle of the swimming pool 3m deep. Then make a float out of ur clothings in water and stay afloat for another 5mins to ensure ur float is working. Lastly jump from the 3m platform. All these to be taken in one go. No resting. By the way, I'm formerly from the Navy. We got no outfield or camping trips. But we do have seasickness n experience mother nature at its best. Each operational vocation is tough. No pain, no gain. Nutty 4th Gear August 27, 2007 Share August 27, 2007 I think you referring to this famous quote from some trashy Taiwanese movies about army life. 合理的要求是锻炼,不合理的是磨练

Mzrmazda3 6th Gear August 27, 2007 Share August 27, 2007 (edited) Bro, after reading so many postings in this thread i guess you have more or less got some ideas about NS I'm from the combat side and would say that the 2.5 years of NS (During my time) had truly change us from Chow Gin Na aka 'Half Boiled Duck Eggs' to real man Tough is of course tough but if others (I.E Those 1st few batches whom are trained under the Isreal instructors ones) can do, why can't we? The training which they had are hundreds or even thousands of times more jialat than us Do train up on your physical fittness so that when you tio enlisted to a combat unit, at least physical training is still not that tough to you Come to think about NS, there are sure lots of Sabo Kings, Lxn Jiao Nans, Geng Kings, Good fellows which you'll encounter Some of these people will become bros which you'll keep in touch even after ORD or ROD for many years down the road Try to learn how to swim too but even if you don't, you'll have free lesson from the instructors in NS But now, maybe si mi 3G army liao hence training might be much much more easier as compared Edited August 27, 2007 by Mzrmazda3
Nutty 4th Gear August 27, 2007 Share August 27, 2007 Something to add about swimming from my experience in the old BTS in Tekong. Non Swimmers - Learn swimming at leisurely pace. Swimmers - Swim laps after laps continuously. After every lap, need to climb up to land and do situps or pushups. Not sure how swimming lessons are run now... Nutty 4th Gear August 27, 2007 Share August 27, 2007 You naughty la... Well... I was a geniune case of non-swimmer back then. After BMT, I was still non-swimmer. It took a friend to give me lesson for a day for me to pick up swimming after I ORD. What an irony...
