Assuming if u believe in God, when he created us, he gave us free will. So after he gave us the free will we are no longer dependent on God's will, cos he gave us the power to decide for ourselves and in fact we can even choose to go against God's will.

if there is god's will, then god will know our eventual destiny and outcome. Thus whatever decisions which we make out of freewill has no effect on our destiny. So how can we have free will then?

That's called fate lah! You are mixing the two. With free will comes consequences. With fate, free will or not, same outcome. Give me free will anytime. At least if I screw up, I know it is my fault and not because it is so because of fate.

Come to think of it, if fate rules the world, no point living. laugh.gif

fate is defined by some as follows...

# destiny: an event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future

# Destiny: the ultimate agency that predetermines the course of events (often personified as a woman); "we are helpless in the face of Destiny"

# destine: decree or designate beforehand; "She was destined to become a great pianist"

Some people believe that a supreme being decides on one's fate....some believe that their past actions determines their fate...some believe that they determine their own fate.

If one has free will, then shouldn't he be determining his own fate? if not, then is it due to some supreme powers who determine their fate? then isn't free will superceded by god's will?

this comment reinforces what u have been saying..."At least if I screw up, I know it is my fault and not because it is so because of fate. "

Ahbuthen! You think like today anyhow suka suka go church ah? Kenna scolded until embarrassed. Have to go back home and change before going to church. The analogy he put is this. If going to see our President or someone important, even a uncouthed foul-mouthed hawker will change to his best clothes before going. Better have some reverence. You are not going to see a prostitute, he says.

Ya.....its prononce as han yu pin yin. Exist for many many years liao. Unfortunately its not my cup of tea.

Maybe when im damn old liao/almost going up the lorry that time, then talk about FAITH to me rah. For now, time is more precious to me then anyhting else. I would rather spend the time watching my kids grow up...the current time is most precious rah....cos it will never return again. [nod][nod][nod]

Unknown to a lot of people. Believing in God or not, in the words of CPT Picard to Data.

"We can do everything perfectly right and still fail." scholar.gif

Life sucks doesn't it if you reduce it to the mere logic of it all? As humans, with a supreme being directing the outcome by tilting the mathematical improbabilities offers hope. I'm not here to tell you what encompasses in Christian free will or destiny or whatever. To borrow the phrase: What we do in life echoes through eternity. We live on the hope that we did decided on something that gives meaning to life. Life not as how science or nature perceives to be otherwise, I would rather be bacteria because I'll be indestructible. laugh.gif

God didnt wanna create robots. He created man out of his own image. He gave man free will. Meaning he left decisions to us. We can create beauty or destruction, its up to us.

In some sense we hold destiny in our own hands. If say you wish to walk off a cliff, its your will. God will surely be sad to see his creation commits suicide but chances are that he will not intervene & you would have taken your own life. So since God has given us free will, he will not exercise his will over ours. Does that make sense to your question?

since He create man. he also give men orders? but it's our choice if we exercise it anot. and he do not give his people everything they ask for like a parents do not spoonfeed his child everything he ask for.

i often say "God i want a new car, a new car, a condo" but God doesn't do it my way. he do it his way.
