Any good workshop to recommend in Bukit Timah/Woodlands/Yew Tee/Bukit Batok area?

Requirements of Mechanics: Reasonably experienced, honest, responsible and posses sufficient sets of repair equipment. I know it might be easier for me to find a dinosaur instead.

Ideally, the workshop should have a car-jack which could raise the car to beyond shoulder for examination of the undercarriage. This is important as the mechanic could show and discuss with me the faulty parts which need to be repaired (before carrying out the work).

I have come across workshops which have a pathetic jack and could only raise the car to kneel cap level. The mechanic would then struggle and crawl underneath the car himself. Did a 3-minute quick check and asked me to replace two lower arms. I had to pay $430 and another ~$30 to have the wheels aligned at his neighboring shop (because his shop is not well-equipped). Worst, I did not have my problem solved after paying for close to ~$500.

When I returned to tell the workshop owner, he still had the cheek to tell me it "could be" due to the power steering rack problem and wanted to charge me another $380. But I just had that rack replaced a few months back.

I need to find a good workshop in the mentioned area. Please let me know if you have one to recommend. The shop should also be professional enough to issue a proper receipt, not scribbling the "repaired parts" on a small piece of toilet-like waste paper.

BTW, please don't recommend Simon to me. Thank you.

agree that amk and ubi/eunos areas have alot respectable workshops. i find leesheng quite reasonable. they state some of the common repair cost in too.

Anyone has any idea which workshops do the PRIVATE driving instructors (who teach around Bukit Batok Driving Center) usually send their cars to, for repair?

Lee Sheng's spray painting is quite good and cheap. Tried it before.

But when it comes to repairing, Lee Sheng's oily mechanic would sit in your car WITHOUT placing a temp sheet covering the seat. After getting my car painted there, I also get the mechanic to replace some bushings. To my horror, his dirty oily-hands were over several parts of my newly-painted car body. The new-paint was less than 1-day old.

In this aspect, CAS at Pandan Loop is better. More professional and better-disciplined.

Besides having car lifts, resoanable good sets of tools and testers, clean surrounding, good house keeping and clean attire , they much also have car seat and fender protective coverings to prevent grease, sweat stain etc and scratches on fender finshing.

You are right.

I hate mechanics who rolled their bodies on the floor and then sit in the car with all that dirty stains.

CAS makes a conscious effort to place a plastic sheet over the seat and then vacuum and wash the car after it has been serviced/repaired.

CAS approach is professional and and they treat customers car like thier own. To attract and make improve bottom line, skill is only one part of the total approach to good business pratice. Many mechanics fail miserably in thier workshop operations because they just do not have business senses and human touch.
