u notice those actress/actors go for panerai more than rolex. panerai as mentioned more ex and probably higher class in that sense.

i beg to differ.. Rolex is definately "higher class" than PAMs. in terms of movements, history, accuracy or even the stainless steel grade used. sweatdrop.gif

panerai has a very distinguished history too, i'm not going to dwell on which got higher class. but i would rather be seen wearing a panerai than a rolex.

no disrespect to rolex, i personally think it's not worth the kind of money you are paying for, definitely not for the movement.

for similar price range, zenith or entry level Jaeger Lecoultre will be much much better options. rolex daytona used to house zenith's el primero movements, until about slightly less than 10yrs ago where they start to use their own movements. but if you buy a zenith with this legendary movement, it will cost a lot less. how come? cos pple have this wrong impression about rolex watches' quality.

worth or not worth, its subjective la. if you like it, its worth it. :)

about Rolex being "higher class", maybe i can reconstrue what i meant. I mean generally, Rolex as a brand name is more prestigious and recognised as compared to Panerai, which only became popular in the last few years.

AND in the Japanese corner.....

Seiko's geared movement watches are termed Seiko 5. It think the name has to do with what Seiko wanted to achieve. 5 ideals for a geared movement watch.

Second comes Citizen. In the Poor Man's Watch Corner, he did mention that Citizen did the wrong thing for years trying to be Seiko. In the end, when this century started, Citizen started to do its own thing and people are beginning to appreciate Citizen. They have geared movement watches using Miyota.

Finally, comes Orient. For years nobody gives a rats 4ss about Orient. In the beginning, there is Seiko, Citizen and Orient then came Casio who punched Orient out.

Orients watches are strange and need an acquired taste. They have watches displaying Arabic numerals, Chinese and Kanji altogether in some models.

Then of course you can't forget Alba which is Seiko.
