Tunge 1st Gear June 3, 2008 Share June 3, 2008 i'm just wondering with all the hassel and problems with cash cards, then some suggestions for using credit cards... why not just pay by giro monthly... the IU unit is so good, never fail to detect that u pass through gantry, issit so mush simpler to just consolidate a bill and send u every month to make payment? any commends on the pros and cons on this system? ↡ Advertisement
Qpik Supercharged June 3, 2008 Share June 3, 2008 Giro is effective if flat rate like season parking but ERP usage differ fm motorists to motorists. I rather go with the current system as I can keep track if carpark system is faulty and overcharged. With Giro, I wouldn't be able to recall back which carpark and the rates. Eyke Supercharged June 3, 2008 Share June 3, 2008 the only significant con is that the gov will incur more cost to track, bill and chase after bad debts, so, as with anything that don't earn the gov money and worse cost gov money, it's unlikely to happen. GIRO is one option for making payment, the idea is that we get a consolidated bill every month, we can go thru the bill which list our charges and at which gantry... we can then make payment via, credit card, AXS, Online or GIRO... sounds good? but then as mentioned above, all this = extra cost and if implemented, we drivers will kena pay more so... Qpik Supercharged June 3, 2008 Share June 3, 2008 i dun even remember what i eat yesterday let alone 1 mth. but keepg track of all this is very time-consuming n if there's any disputes they will turn around n asked how come you don't report immediately. haiz after so many experiences with our civil svc, if it is in their interest, they will intervene. if not, then good luck to u. Leepee 1st Gear June 3, 2008 Share June 3, 2008 Yes...coming very soon....gov is going to implement giro/credit card system in second half of 2008.
Auron 2nd Gear June 4, 2008 Share June 4, 2008 its a good system to consumer... if consumer want to use it. register the IU unit at LTA and LTA will bill the user at let say every month. but this will become a postpaid model where you use it and pay 1 month later... the gahmen will lose interest $$$ in this way. there is also the logistic of tracking all the bills, chasing those that never pay up on time, assign debt collector company to chase bad debts and the usual stuffs... all these cost extra... the gahmen skolar will need to come up with risk assessment and slap a extra surcharge for those that want to use such facility... maybe 20% service charge slapped on the final bill... anyway, this does not do away with cash card, individual carpark operator still need cash card to deduct $$$ if they do not have special arrangement.. btw, this is most likely the model for credit card charging that LTA is going to implement... We have enough trouble with the IU, if we go GIRO and same thing happens we still have to go through the same nonsense and if double deduction even if every month $1-2, will you go ask for refund? how much will petrol and your time cost you..... everything seems simple if all goes well..... ERP last time also they say simple mah but now leh.... Just stick with the IU lar....
Blackyv Turbocharged June 4, 2008 Share June 4, 2008 well, since when their system will give u immediate refund?? they always on the win side.. just like question about the giro-incometax recently.. they want us to do the incometax thing timely. then, they still could not digest all data and for those who sign up giro payment, the first payment would be according to last year "record" and not up to date. only after they calculated the taxable income and amount, the next mth they will adjust the deduction...
