bro, switch to gas water heater and use gas to boil water....gas is cheaper per kw

gas is more efficient than elect in heating applicances:

elect: chemical energy > heat energy > movement energy > electrical energy > heat energy

gas: chemical energy > heat energy

you'll pay more, another 30% to justify for the "new" eco friendly tech. :XD:

Who cares? Even if cost decreases, you think you will pay less?

It is BAD idea for us as we have not seen any price reductions for any cost reduction in anything given back to us.

Don't be fooled by the marketing. Even if you want to solar power your home and electric car you got to first invest in the solar panels, charging system and batteries. That will set you back US$1+ mil (based on Tesla's system now). You go calculate how long it will take to breakeven that amount. You know before it becomes "foc".

I agree with you to certain point.

Those who believe that the environment needs to save now, then whatever the price, we need to change / implement for your next generation, perhaps, survival or existence.

Sometimes we cannot just see the dollar aspect. Eg We know most cancer drugs don't work for everybody/everyone. Each pill can sometimes cost more than $200 per pill and have to be taken daily. But people with cancer and can afford are willing to give a try even though there may not be even a "break-even" point to talk about.

The other point about solar, it is matter of time before price of solar panels tumbles due to production efficiencies and as of today, the price has come off a lot. The next leap would be storage batteries that needs to improve in their storage ability and size. I believe we will be able to see these development in our lifetime. That said, I am equally optimistic that there will be technology in the near future to tap in a "new" source of energy, it may come from .......
