Ford has left the engine range more or less unchanged, which means petrols of 1.4 to 2.0 litres (the 2.5 ST will follow shortly) and diesels of 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 litres in five power levels. We drove the range topping 143bhp 2.0 Duratec petrol and 134bhp 2.0 TDCI Duratorq diesel. Currrently 65% of Focus sales are petrol models, the most popular being the 114bhp 1.6 Duratec. Both 2.0-litre cars are decent performers too, the diesel's extra torque and standard fit six-speed gearbox (five-speed on the petrol) making it demonstrably quicker. The new dual clutch Powershift gearbox (a rival to the VW group's DSG unit) will be launched on this car initially too, furthering its appeal.

Neutral Newbie

Why not take the new Ford Mondeo at $83k. 100hp on paper is a bit low. But if pushed, my Focus MKII can outrun most Japs and Korean 1.6l anytime. The drive and road holding puts a smile on my face every time I drive. Ford Mondeo would be better though. 159 would be ultimate.

Yap man, after so many years still 100 horses [shakehead] .

Regards,

Thats y after so many long years in singapore, Ford's sales is still horrible.

The number of Fords added to the road for the past 3 years is not much more than Maseratis [lipsrsealed]

Its becos the other Japs/Korean drivers r not even racing with u in the 1st place [:p]

But the Mondeo @ 83K is really a very good buy. Don't think there is any cars in the 80+K range that can match the Mondeo in terms of performance, handling & equipment level.

Didn't know the price tag on the Mondeo

has dropped this much. At this price point

its worth considering.

dont forget, these brands move commerical vehicles by the dozens

opel, peugeot and citroen alone move more vans than cars sold, end of the day looking at the bottom line, they are far better off than many other brands out there

Skoda only 16, Dodge only 11, so 199 not so bad in comparison, but still not so good lah [sweatdrop]
