Dualie Clutched September 25, 2008 Share September 25, 2008 Apparently there's some unhappiness down at malsingmap and some senior members has left to create malfreemap. From what I understand, malsingmap is planning/using users' contribution to compile map and sell it commercially. The mappers feel they have the right to do so as they spend time to compile the data... All this done without planning to inform contributors. Still expecting user to contribute and ask (beg?) for unlock codes... Someone from MSM disagree and left to setup MFM. Their maps will be free for download. Unfortunately, SG map is currently not available yet... So if you ever contribute to MSM, do drop by MFM and contribute too. I support Antyong all the way... everything went downhill the minute they voted on "who is supposed to own the maps" some years back... not to mention some of the mods cmi... Then again, other mappers would think they deserve some monetary compensation too. Money in the end is the cause of the split...It's not surprising. Some will think it's fair, some not. Last time their policy is must contribute..maps not for sale.I guess its really lucrative to sell the maps. Damned, malsingmaps maps are distributed free all over the net with unlock code and what ever, some are even unlocked for you without you needing to do any hard work, just put them in your Garmin folder and you are all set to go...... in fact you can also get Garmin's own Malaysia/Singapore maps for free if you know where to find...... After 2 weeks with no response, I pm antyong, he gave me the codes immediately. Guess who is running mfm now? When I pay Jerome for donor map, I got reply immediately. Guess what money can do?
