Voodooman Supersonic October 24, 2008 Share October 24, 2008 Garmin has been around for many years and its reliability is not in doubt, guess I was plain unlucky. Fortunately the problem surfaced 2 months before the end of warranty period (i.e. auto-disconnect from the car
Voodooman Supersonic October 24, 2008 Share October 24, 2008 It didn't really bother me that much as it does not read out all the road names that appears on the GPS screen, I thought that is how it works but I was wrong. With more tunnels in Singapore, it would be nice to have that GSP that can navigate while the vehicle is underground but they are still too expensive right now. Kb27 Supersonic October 24, 2008 Share October 24, 2008 (edited) I bought the garmin ext ant from Hoan at SLT and install it on the roof besides the radio ant. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=1326 I was fortunate my car original radio ant. is close by so I don't have to run the cable too far, and didn't have to drill extra holes. It has a magnetic mount, but I put extra silicon sealant to make sure rain won't get in through the roof. The cable just plug into the mcx socket in the 350. This antenna is built for StreetPilot c3xx and c5xx, nuvi 3xx, 6xx, 7xx, 8xx and zumo. There is a big difference in locking to the satellites with the ext ant since it is amplified signal. You can see most of the bars (when you check the satellite tracking screen) are full with the external ant...a $50 well spent. ... the risk is some idiot may karpoh it. Of coz locking to the satellite is much faster and accuracy can dropped to as low as 4m. Without it, accuracy is about 6~7m. Voodooman Supersonic October 25, 2008 Share October 25, 2008 Thanks for the info, if it does not "ugly-fied" the car significantly, it may be a good investment. Accuracy is everything in a densely build-up place like Singapore.

Kb27 Supersonic October 27, 2008 Share October 27, 2008 MFM 1.15 seemed more detailed than MSM 2.30...well, at least at Kuantan where I'm heading. Will most likely be using MFM map going there. I think soon it may surpass MSM
Dualie Clutched October 28, 2008 Author Share October 28, 2008 Well, it depends on your area of interest. My weekend trip to Malacca will be very stressful if using MFM. Simply CMI. Many roads are not there at all... MSM is much better... For me... MSM : Singapore, Johore, Malacca MFM : The rest of Malaysia
