Vtim 3rd Gear October 10, 2008 Share October 10, 2008 hmmm, i think lowest range of garmin nuvi should be at this price range. Other than that, i can think of those gps pda which can install third party software to use the free map. else, go for those pda-like phones, eg. samsung omnia to do same thing. ok, maybe will buy the lowest range of garmin nuvi or maybe get a second hand middle range if it's around that price, I don't need it for local driving, more of up North
Mivec9 1st Gear October 10, 2008 Share October 10, 2008 to save $$, think buy good condition ones most worth it. But if u r like me, prefer new ones, then can buy new and cheap from overseas or freelancers here.
Vtim 3rd Gear October 10, 2008 Share October 10, 2008 Cheap GPS can be brought from US then ship over to Singapore. The pricing will be cheaper than buying from singapore. about $100 cheaper. Vtim 3rd Gear October 10, 2008 Share October 10, 2008 I'm using Garmin Nuvi 200. $250-$270. Good for normal navigation. No extra video, mp3 player etc. http://www.malsingmaps.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=12086 He (his bro actually) drove to my place, tested the GPS in front of me, and teaches me how to use it. It includes malsingmaps and useful POIs like ATMs SAMs Speedtraps ..etc. I'm using Jerome's map (Singapore-Johor) only though. http://gpsmaps.jwpixs.com/ 1 time US$20 donation for life long updates. Malsing is also using his map for Singapore but less detailed. Not afflicted with the above people mentioned, just have been enjoying their services since I got my GPS 1 month ago. Ok, that's a reasonable price I don't need other fancy features, just primary GPS for driving up North, like around K.L., Penang, etc... , local no need

Multi 3rd Gear October 10, 2008 Share October 10, 2008 For MFM V1.10, you need to join the maps together firsusing either Sendmap or Gmaptool and create as .img file. Copy this file to your SD card in your Garmin folder. You cannot have 2 Gmapsupp.img in the same folder. Rename it if you have Malsingmap's map in it. Since V1.10 is new, the POI and details are not as good as Malsingmaps yet, so as of now...Malsingmaps is better.
