STOMPer Johnny witnessed the huge fire which broke out at Block 163A Gangsa Road in Bukit Panjang and sent in video footage of the explosions and car owners who were trying to save their vehicles.

In his email to STOMP at 4am today (Oct 7), the STOMPer wrote:

I was there last nite.. woke up from sleep when hearing explosions.

Looked out the window and saw huge column of black smoke, and fireballs into the sky every few seconds.

Rushed down to see if cars affected. Fortunately the fire was contained on the 2nd floor motorbike parking area. Sad for the motorbikes, though. Total and complete devastation.

I think hundreds of people thronged the area trying to see what was going on, and others rushing to save their cars - causing a traffic jam inside the MSCP. There was already a red rhino firefighting inside the MSCP - blocking the way for the cars to exit normally; so the cars had to do a bit of reversing and forwarding to exit from a single ramp.

Quite a number of residents helped to fight the fire using the MSCP firehoses. The fire brigade finally put out the fire about 4am.

This morning I went to see the aftermath. Whew... it was like a scene from Kuwait after Desert Storm. Total blackened walls, destroyed bikes (though very fortunately some bikes survived fully intact and cars near the area were not affected. A wall and gap separated and saved these cars). The destroyed bikes are unrecognisable. Just charred skeletal remains.

Fire probably started at nearly 2am. I think arson must likely cause. The MSCP is abut 8 years old, with no prior history of fire. I pity all the bikers, some of them neighbours I know, that have this destruction on their property in the middle of the nite.

Just a wild thought - motorbike got no dna, right? So if I still have outstanding loans to pay, can I claim my bike is one of the victim?

That's why I always avoid parking near motorcycle. Most of the carpark fire are from the motorcycle..

Especially In MSCP Escape Route is Only ONE WAY [sweatdrop]
