Blackyv Turbocharged October 10, 2008 Share October 10, 2008 Difference betwen Warren and MM? The former invest his own money...he lose it, it's his. The latter uses other people's money (i.e.yours and mine)...he lose it, it's not his. and his pay/income is his own $$, in his own pocket and that is not affected at all... ↡ Advertisement
Genie47 1st Gear October 10, 2008 Share October 10, 2008 If the job is relatively stable, I say use some of the money sitting in a fixed income instrument for holiday. Nothing is worth putting into now. Maybe we will join the guys planning the road trip to Phuket at year end. Would quite an adventure.

Ticklish8 3rd Gear October 10, 2008 Author Share October 10, 2008 dont be too negative lah.... economy always pick up..., after the Asian Financial Crisis, Dot Come Bust... etc.....u will felt a lot of pain like wage cut etc... or worse retrenchment. I remember during the Asian Financial crisis, my salary freeze 3 years...everybody work like zombie because scared kena retrenched. lesson - have at least 6 month saving for rainy days, don't over leverage in terms of debts, so if kena retrenched no need die die have to deleverage... this one very very painful. Lot of my friend lost a lot of money in property n stocks. some still stuck with property that they bought in 96/97 until now.

David Clutched October 10, 2008 Share October 10, 2008 Some friends describe recent days like having diarrhea but I think not. At least diarrhea, doctor can prescribe charcoal pill. I describe this as HFMD, just have to wait out for the virus to die off by itself.
Tploh Clutched October 10, 2008 Share October 10, 2008 maybe it's all pre-planned. 2009 recession, 2010 coming out of recession...2011 election . then pappy's spin doctors will have a field day saying how good they were bringing s'pore out of recession....and in the process, fully deserve a pay rise. (now where did i hear that before) No big news about recession nowadays. The trendy word is "Depression". Doubt, can come out so soon. The worse is estimated to be around 2012 till 2014.
