Silver_blade Turbocharged November 20, 2008 Share November 20, 2008 I'm sure they will find excuses not to allow that to happen. If less cars on the road...they might allow contractor to do road work in the day (to create job and keep their cost low)..

Mustank Hypersonic November 20, 2008 Share November 20, 2008 property sales lousy, they stop land sales car sales lousy, they can lower coe supply if they do so, current drivers will face less jam unlike coe which is effective dd (demand which is back up by cash or approved loans) and ss, erp appears to be less affected
Guest Julio369 Neutral Newbie November 20, 2008 Share November 20, 2008 why they never "study" when last time COE shoots up high high ?????
Roh96 6th Gear November 20, 2008 Share November 20, 2008 Study why they earn so much from COE in 96-98.

Leclair 3rd Gear November 20, 2008 Share November 20, 2008 LTA must definitely do a thorough study. Simple maths : 18 mil X (lets just put in 10 biddings) 10 = 180 mil a year Do you think Spore Gov who will get (or lose ) the money will let this happen? again? They will try to remove even any remote chance of that happening. Someone from the top must be jumping : " We just lost 18 millions! Now the Big Boss will call me in !" Nutty 4th Gear November 20, 2008 Share November 20, 2008 Realised that whenever they do some "studies", the end result is money? Either increase this or increase that.
Altum Neutral Newbie November 20, 2008 Share November 20, 2008 The whole idea behind COE is touted as control vehicle population. So as long as the COEs are limited to those available, there is nothing wrong with it is its $1 or $100k, since its purely demand and supply. Whats there to study. We never see them studying anything when the COE is sky high. Unless the whole idea is to make money, then there is something wrong
Albeniz Turbocharged November 20, 2008 Share November 20, 2008 There is no point doing such a study. It's plain simple. Economy bad -> people get retrenched -> no money to buy car-> demand for car drop -> COE crashed. That's it.
Leepee 1st Gear November 20, 2008 Share November 20, 2008 Assuming that COE stays around $5k levels for CatA & B, does this mean its good time to get a small weekend car, those with OMV around $10k++? The $17k OPC discount would have more or less negated off the taxes & COE that car buyers will be paying to the government. It would mean that we can finally get to buy a car in Singapore at its ACTUAL price/worth like the rest of the world! Only thing is the 7pm-7am restriction...but then for those intending to get a second fun car(like me)...this would not be a big issue. Not forgetting the reduced road tax and insurance for weekends cars are also lower. Ok now....can anyone/PI suggest me a nice/cute/fun small car? Anyone knows which PI got cute unique models? Maybe a Lapin or Copen or Cube or even FIT? ↡ Advertisement
