Chickensoup 1st Gear February 7, 2009 Share February 7, 2009 LTA encourage motorcycles to turn on their headlights in the day. It is said to enhance safety. So I think cars likewise, safety is improved. The energy is charged by the alternator, not much wastage. In fact, those very purplish after market HIDs are more of a nuisance. It blinds you from the rear or when you see it from the side mirror. ↡ Advertisement
So_nice 6th Gear February 7, 2009 Share February 7, 2009 for safety reasons i believe. althought i agreed wif u tat well lited carparks might not need to turn on the headlights. but imagine if there is a total blackout suddenly? alot of things are unavailable thru the text books isn't it? one gotta be flexible. Seaweed 1st Gear February 7, 2009 Share February 7, 2009 I think we should have the good habit of turning on the hazard light when parking before turning on the lights ...
Kezg1 5th Gear February 7, 2009 Share February 7, 2009 Yes IMO , I think It is necessary becoz many a times driver coming out from the lot(MSCP) will see your light 1st before your car....so is another safety measure to me .
Jeronleow Neutral Newbie February 7, 2009 Share February 7, 2009 (edited) I ALWAYS turn on head light even in day time or even if its a brightly lit MSCP. Reason being that when u come up the slope another car is coming down he will see me coming. It's not a matter of who u can see when u turn on the light its who can see you. I see idiots who even turn off their light when they enter the MSCP and end up making E brake when another idiot did not turn on the light and exit the lot. Make it a practice to turn on the head light even if it is day. I even thought of writing a note and paste on the entrance telling drivers to turn the light on. Jsf777 1st Gear February 7, 2009 Share February 7, 2009 IMHO this is call defensive driving...you on yr headlight to warn some kuku drivers (as someone mentioned earlier) and to avoid possible "expensive" accidents...

Jazz 2nd Gear February 7, 2009 Share February 7, 2009 During day time when the MSCP light is off and quite dim, will on my headlight, but during evening time after work, when the MSCP light is on, I will off my headlight to reduce glaring to other drivers
Vroomtattat 2nd Gear February 7, 2009 Share February 7, 2009 I will switch on the headlight when I enter any MSCP or basement carpark. It's for better visibility...so that others can see me coming. There are just too many speeding cars in the carpark...or those only looking for lots and don't really keep a look out for cars. You're right bro! I'll turn on the headlights when I go MSCP or basement carparks and always look out for F1 wannabes.
Turbonetics 2nd Gear February 7, 2009 Share February 7, 2009 Realised that many drivers turn on headlight automatically upon entering any carparks, even if they are not covered up and are brightly lit up! Is it a old habit carry forward from yester-years? Were you given that piece of advice when you started driving? Just felt that it is not really necessary nowadays with most of the carparks as they are generally well illuminated. Really not logical and waste of energy. What do you think? because they are using Auto mode like me.
Silver_blade Turbocharged February 7, 2009 Share February 7, 2009 (edited) Frankly I am bothered by those headlights a bit. I go parkway every week and you know it has 7 storeys of parking space and one side of it is opened so there are plenty of sunlight... But you will go thru another section which is mostly walled up. Bro, I nornmally enter the MSCP with headlite on as I perfer to "SEE and to be SEEN". As many of the bros mentioned, we have too many kuku drivers in the carpark. Anyway, it will not waste any energy at all. Afterall, you die die have to change battery between 1.5~2years. It won't last any longer it you don't use it.
