Renault has lots of unreliability problems and their service is very expensive!

only thing i didnt like was need to change timing belt every 60K and it is a big job.

I believe those new model should be using timing chain already.

drove before the camry and the thaiyota handling wasn't very bad

Drove a rental Camry, don't like the handling. Suspension is too soft through corner.

go renaultcarclub forum to ask for more feedback.

I am driving a Megane too, but old version 1.6L petrol manual.

It's been 5 years and still going strong without skipping a beat. It's the french version of Corolla. :D

Yeah, the new GT line looks very tempting.

Bro Kangadrool, yours is a sedan or hatch? My friend has a wicked yellow R26 in Australia [thumbsup] Swee!

Neutral Newbie

Renault estate 2006 car is a crap

These are the issue encountered and not resolved until now:

- engine stalked when stationary

- gearbox electronic issue where it will jerked while driving and stuck at gear 2

- engine stalked when driving long distance

- power window cannot open n close

- rear viper cannot be turn in

A crap car to consider before committing

Better be safe than sorry

there are some cheap troubleshooting methods to try to see if it solves your issues.

clean the throttle body, might solve the stationary stall issue. change the spark plugs also.

jerking gear shifts and stuck at gear?... change the gearbox actuator.

power window motor failing is typical for a megane of that age. just keep it closed lor.

I drive a 2008 Megane CC. Sometimes when I start the car, the engine doesn't run smoothly and when I try to rev the car, it dies. If I let it runs a while, then slowly try to rev it up and keep the revving, it then runs ok.

I also constantly face another problem when my fuel tank runs low to about 1/4 tank. When I accelerate from stop, or when I go up a steep incline, or when i make a hard right turn, the engine will misfire and lose power even while trying to press the accelerator.

Wearnes workshop told me that the fuel pump is faulty and has to be replaced. Any recommendation where to replace it and how much does it cost?

Drove a friend's grey one recently , really amazing the balance for a fwd car, and the rawness (compared to my VW), so tempted to switch hahaha

Mechanically, it's a very sound car. Mine entering into its 12th year and still riding on stock shocks. The driver's side window went for a bypass surgery last year due to one of the pin in the module "corroded"and dropped off. LOL

I standby four plug coils, but still not activated. FC gets better as it ages, getting from 11-12 kml to 12-13 kml now. Quite amazing!

Not many 1.6 Megane 2 sedans left on the road. Only managed to see another champagne colour one recently.
