monitor it---

if it doesnt go off by tomorrow, drive straight in to the service centre.....

sometimes the burning smell could come from the undercarriage--some plastic may have got caught on the exhaust thus creating the smell or.....

another possibility is your clutch could be wearing off if yours is a manual car......

or could be some fluid dripping on exhaust &

finally, could be your brakes are binding but this would cause you to experience loss of power....

going for my 5 k service soon, what should i do?

the thermo amp thingy is located where the a/con blower motor is---let them check it.

sometimes may be some dead insect or something stuck there so gives off a smell when first started.

just my guess!

are you using their oil or you supply cos I think using the 10w30 is better on the engine--gives better performance

compared to the 10w40 they giving at the service centre.

Hi fellow exorians....just had my paintwork protected with teflon sealant.

Done by : Niss-98757900 who is a mobile car polisher (see photos).

The sealant claims to provide:ultimate shine, protection from water spots, bird droppings &

shield against ultra-violet rays.

The package also includes interior cleaning & treatment.

He is detailed & provides excellent service & final results which will sure to please!

He promotes his services at http://www.celicasg.org/index.php?topic=510.0 - check it out.

He claims that he started doing this since 2006 & see how many cars he has done till this day.

The whole process took him about 3 hrs- I was there watching him- would highly recommend if you are lazy like myself to do this on your own & wants it done at your very own doorstep.

Price: $90/- for proton exora mpv(big size)

Now just needs to wash everytime the car gets dirty with water only & dry(no shampoo required)

The coating should last between 3-4 months depending on your maintenance before a reapplication

is needed again.

STARTS OFF WITH A GOOD WASH

NOT EVEN THE ROOF IS SPARED

I was just thinking out loud....

Like what brother Panhard mentioned earlier, may be because the aircon is too efficient.

In Singapore, a lot of people tend to set the temp to the coldest and fan speed at low.

With our high humidity, a lot of condensation will take place in the evaporator fin and some may start to ice up.

when the ice get thicker, eventually the fin are all choke up and air cannot flow thru and thus less or no ice is coming out.

The symtom disappear the next day when all the ice melted.

The engineering department of Proton may have to do some study on this to improve this situation. It is common to have some minor hipcu for new model, that is why some people prefer to buy mid-life model where most technical hitches have been resolved.

Some suggestion for present user

- Set temperature to higher

- increase fan speed.

Just my thinking ....:), I not from Proton hor...haha

Never set temp to coldest. Such problem are common in old cars.

Set the temp to 2/3 or 3/4 cold max.

I experience sometimes a single "tat" sound especially when just moving off or when engaging auto gear to

"D" or "R" as the gear enter-

Happens when there is a jerk or quick action on accelerator.

When on drive no sound at all!

Anyone experience that?

Please share.

i am not sure this is a cause, i remember during my trip to Genting, half way thru, this "tat tat" suddently appeared. after checked, i suspect it was due to wiring cable of our car IV unit which is too long, and hit against the dashboard. Open the fule box cover, tighthen the wiring with cable tie, hope this help [rolleyes]

after driving this car for 8 months.... 18000+km... my below comments....

1) Fitted a Hurricane drop in filter, NGK iridium plugs.

2) F/C for me suxx... despite i've tried both Ron 95 and 98... both gives me the same F/C... i'm only doing about 11 - 12L/100km (50% city, 50% highway)... which is about 8-9km/L... i don't mind the F/C because its a 1.4 tonne machine you're driving... can't expect that good F/C... but i'm envious how you people managed to get good F/C... even 10 is good... i don't get that! haha...

I just did my last FC calculation, hit 10km/L---using Caltex 95ron, engine oil-10w30(idemitsu), stock air filter & s.plugs. 50% city/50% highway driving. before this could not even hit 9km/L, was on shell & esso. mileage 3k plus now.Next svcs at 5k-next month!
