Ender Hypersonic May 21, 2009 Share May 21, 2009 Go see specialist. GP can only suspect.. To diagnose still need to do blood test and ultrasound. If confirm, yes, specialist most likely recommend to cut. But there's are ton of information on alternate method, such as liver flushing. There are still people who do not wish to cut, and may try the alternate medicine.

Civic6656 1st Gear May 21, 2009 Share May 21, 2009 To share with you my experience. I myself have gallstones. The pain is really terrible.... I've done endoscopy twice to crush and remove the stones stucked inside the bile duct. NUH docs kept persuaded me to remove my gall bladder but i opt out... Also seen Chinese sensei but it didn't help too... I found a remedy through net search which had proven very effective. Till today, the problem did not came back (more then 2 years ago). Go get Organic Apple Cider (unfiltered type). A teaspoon mix with a glass of water will do. Drink a glass every evening before you go to bed. The pain will subside gradually over few days. For the first 1 month, drink it every night. Subsequently, you can skip a day or two. Try it! It worked very well for me.

You gotto kill the source of the problem. Endoscopy is only a temp solution. If your gall bladder kept producing stones, the same problem will resurface again. Trust me, cos i've been thru twice. To describe the pain, you can't sit, stand, sleep or work. In fact, you'll just roll on the floor. Your skin and eyeballs will grudually turn yellow too due to the bile. Your liver will continue producing bile but your gall bladder couldn't flush the bile juice out to the gastric. Once the bile thickens, stones will be formed and cause blockage when it flows into the bile duct. For short term pain relief, take very hot shower or put a hot bag on your tummy. It will ease the pain temporarily. To overcome this problem totally, drink Organic Apple Cider with water. "Grandma formular" Try the remedy, it helps! Slacker001 Clutched May 21, 2009 Share May 21, 2009 Hi Hotamp, Gall bladder stones can indeed cause pain in the right upper abdomen. However, there are of course other conditions that can cause such symptoms. Before your friend goes for surgery, some investigations need to be done first. This is to prove that the pain is due to gallstones rather than any other condition (ie gastric ulcer disease). Usually, the doctors will order an scan of the gall bladder. This will allow detection of stones within the gall bladder and if it has been complicated by stones in the bile duct (by which time your friend may have jaundice and possibly fever). There may be blood tests such as a liver function test to check if such a complication has occurred. Depending on symptoms they may also order blood tests to detect possible inflammation/infection. At times, if your friend's symptoms suggest other diagnoses, other investigations may be ordered in order to ensure your friend's problems aren't due to something else (which may not be rectified if his gall bladder is removed). Now, as for the surgery: Gall bladder removal (you can google Cholecystectomy) can either be done laparoscopically (ie, minimally invasive surgery) or open. [Endoscopy refers to passing through either the oesophagus or through the colon and is not really pertinent to this surgery] It is a fairly common operation and does not require a long stay (another forumite quoted ~ 3 days, that's about right). Both can be done at any of the restructured hospitals or private hospitals. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy involves 3 small incisions near his gall bladder and 1 near his umbilicus for the camera. The gall bladder will be removed through the incisions. Sometimes it may have to be done open: in which case it will be a surgical incision instead. Hope this helps. Good luck to your friend. To Civic 6656: Unfortunately your stones were in the bile duct and you had to undergo that procedure. Stones can originate from the GB and go to the bile duct, hence the advice of your NUH doctors. Good that you're doing fine though.
Hondacub777 6th Gear May 21, 2009 Share May 21, 2009 What is the cause for gall stone?by the way,any bro hear about uretea sugery for kidney stones?sorry TS,hijack ur thread.
Slacker001 Clutched May 21, 2009 Share May 21, 2009 Ah that's a very debatable topic. Of course that are certain conditions that can increase the likelihood of stones developing ie certain blood conditions related to various forms of anaemia. Sometimes stones are cholesterolstones. In any case it will depend on the site of the kidney stones. Small ones (~5mm) may pass by themselves. If not there're many options depending on the site. These will include blasting it with shockwaves, retrieval using a scope or removing via a tube inserted in your flanks towards the upper part of your ureter etc.

Ender Hypersonic May 21, 2009 Share May 21, 2009 I was diagnose with gallstone too after sufferring an attack. But I didn't opt for surgery depsite the doc recommendation. Told him I want to try alternate method.. I tried liver flushing. That didn't work, had a 2nd attack a month later. After the 2nd attack, a ultrasound scan cannot detect any gallstone or anything. Doc thinks that I have passed out the gallstone since, the 1st attack, the ultrasound detect sludges. But doc still insist I go for surgery. Guess I'm stubborn, I'm taking some chinese medication for gallstone. It's been 4 months now. I also schedule with my doc for a ultrasound scan in 6 months, to see is any development.. You can try other alternative first, before deciding to cut or not. To Galantz, How post-surgery? Any change in diet? Read on the net some has problem with fats digestion..
