agreed man...I work and drive these cars day to day...so if the TS wanna know about whats the best to get...i'd say 325...seriously...unless he wants his ride to have oil leaks and leaky hoses or pipes every now and then [sweatdrop] [sweatdrop] [sweatdrop]

BTW when i was 18 i had the E46 M3 for a month...thats the car which changed my life...literally...LOL

which year and models are more prone to such issues?

Recently got ppl in this forum say ppl who buy 318 are badge whores & 320 are "underpowered".

then what abt those who buy C180 and C200?

no one mention abt "underpower" for these models?

If you are a motorhead like Jeremy Clarkson, then it is better to buy 325 and above or C230 etc. Or else you'll feel that the engine has not enough power to exploit the chassis of the cars like BMW.

Otherwise for Singapore, 318 is fine, C180 is also fine.

A lot of ppl what is Ultimate Driving Machine means. Even wif superb chassis, an underpower vehicle will not show its advantage. That's something a lot of ppl don't understand. 318 is not value for $$. C180 is value for $$$.

value for $$ is quite subjective. it really depends on the individual.

With a 325, if you want to slide a little bit, just enter the corner faster than normal, keep rpm about 3,000 then in the middle of the turn increase to 4,000 to 5,000 surely tail come out. Other things like counter steer you got to know. I do that with a 530 easily, very controllable.

To do that with a 320 honestly it is really not so easy. You got to enter the corner much faster and make more abrupt steering work to slide the car. Reason being it is difficult to squeeze out enough torque from the engine to just kick the butt out like 325.

Never tried a Merc with the things above. I just find it very easy to corner very fast with BMW>

dont try with a merc, did once and the car spin 90 degree while turning right at traffic light, partly caused by wet surface also.

that experience was even scarier than sitting on roller coaster.

bro the c230 is very tame.. the v6 doesnt kick like the kompressor. best is a modded c180/c200. ~ 250bhp for c200 with headers and kbox and sc pulley

Wet surface, the newer tires must be at the rear wheels, or else there would be higher chance of the tail coming loose. That's why some cars use staggered set up, meaning something like 235 in front and 255 behind. Search on youtube you can see the demo.

My friend's E230 the Merc gave him upgraded Merc drilled brakes, and then 19 inch wheels, 245 front and 265 behind......Another friends 325 coupe got 234 and 255, something like that.

I myself staying with 245 and 245, easier to slide when I want, haha....
