i will be driving to Melaka next week. First time too...

Had read through this thread in the last month plus. Now a bit of indigestion [laugh]

Apart from the many eateries, are there any places that are highly recommended to visit/see/do in Melaka? Will be going to find the submarine museum that @Adrianli has mentioned too.

Will likely try to catch at least one movie there, since @ignissport has mentioned it's very worth it. What's the best way to get tickets? Do they have on-line booking, and btw, any recommended cinemas there?

Plan one daytime and night time at Jonker Walk. Take the river cruise, climb up the fort and take a ride up the revolving tower. Thatz all for what to see.

Forget going to those various museums. No time.

Remember to visit Portugese Square for dinner. I recommend Stall 10, the last one. But TNP recommends Stall 1. Must try is devil's curry and some seafood in their assam sauce.

Along the way to submarine museum remember to try the Coconut milkshake.

Also can visit the sea turtle sanctuary further down.

There's a cinema in Palawan mall.  I always watch movie there.  Cheaper than JB I think.  I never book ticket in advance.  I always buy tickets at the cinema.

Do not eat Famosa Chix Rice -  not nice one.   Try Chung Wah (I think is closed) or Hoe Kee if you can.

Cheap and popular dimsum at Jonker Street - 荣茂茶室 Restoran Rong Mao

Chendol - few popular stalls but I always go Jonker 88

There is a Mamee museum in Jonker street, you can consider going there if you have kids.

Have a great trip!

Since you like Chicken Rice, go to Bukit China Market.

Opposite that market, there is a Hainanese Coffee Shop.  The shop only got 2 food store, 1 laksa and 1 chicken rice.

Warning: Must go really early.  After 9am, might be sold out.

Movie tickets no need book in advance. Just check the show times for movies in Makhota & Dataran Palawan. Missed one, just walk across to the other to catch the same movie.

New movies premiers every Thurs & will be screened in many time slots, eg. Yesterday, Jurassic World was screened > 30 times at Dataran Palawan in multiple Theatres. I watched the 1620 hrs one, after getting distracted on the way there for the 1520 & then the 1550 hrs one.

we'll have 2 full days and 2 more days (or what's left of them) going there and leaving. Will see if that's enough or if too much time...

I haven't stop by MY TP for a long time.  My usual speed is around 150km/h.

With Waze, it will warn you of camera or MY TP.

For AES, just count the number of warning signboard.  it is about 500m after 3rd signboard.

With speed camera no need to stand on the road to take money, they can send you a summon to take it legally.
