Some of these conti watches are very sensitive to other brands of batteries even if the equivalent is used.

Been there done that with damage to circuit board. The least damage was watch keeps changing battery every 2 weeks - batt dead every 2 weeks.

No need to specially hunt for renata brand battery. The one to get are the silver oxide composition as this has the lowest risk from leakage.

Some neighborhood watch shop will give the cheaper alkakline equivalent which has highrisk of leakage.

Watches with Renata Battery cannot easily be replaced with japanese/whatever battery.  That's including Swatch.

Renata Battery quality very good.  I leave it inside my Swatch also no problem.

But I also have swatch that I have been changing the battery myself. Works fine all these years. Renata is just another silver oxide battery, that is own by SWatch. Naturally most Swiss  brand watch under Swatch group will recommend Renata.

I also won't let neighborhood watch shop change my battery, for the reason that they are likely to use cheaper alkaline equivalent. Alkaline battery for watch usually won't last long, which many had experience.

Just ensure they use back the same "continental" brand cell batt. Sorry, can't remember the brand name. LOL.

Those who changed battery for TH, you guys only go to AD?

Any outside shop can do it?
