Ecoboost in UK, europe only available for manual transmission.

 

predicted to be couple with auto at the end of the year, then maybe regent might bring in.

 

if there is demand for ecoboost + manual, then regent might bring in, so please feedback to regent if you are interested

 

Heard from the SE that RM might bring the 1.6ecoboost (150hp) rather than the 1.0ecoboost. If they would bring in the 1.6 ecoboost (180hp), it would definitely be a serious competitor against the golf.

The review by a local motoring journalist didn't give good ratings for the latest Focus. Granted there are positive points as well, but the negative ones seem quite apparent (as least according to the writer)

 

Extract:

 

"Once in a long while, we are treated to cars that are decently priced, stylish, well-built and chock full of features. Alas, the new Ford Focus is not one of them. It is decently priced (Continental make, Japanese tag), has an impressive equipment list and is pretty easy on the eye. But it is not exactly well-built. At least not as far as the test car is concerned. Cabin panels take the cake - they are ill-fitting, creak when the car goes over a hump or when you apply slight pressure on them, and one piece lining a door handle even came off in the hands of my 11-year-old.

 

.......the interior is most disappointing, even for a car that is targeted at Thai-made rivals such as the Toyota Corolla Altis and Honda City...

........its handling is best described as competent. Its suspension set-up and tyres see to that, but the driver at the helm is absurdly detached from the fine dynamics...

.......Ford claims the Focus will cover 100km on just 6.5 litres of petrol. The best I could get was 9.5 while traversing the island on highways alone. Most times, it averages 10.5 litre.......

Seldom see a local car review that highlights so many 'faults'.

I think it's a nice car though, especially the wagon :wub: At least it is priced reasonably, unlike the Hyundai i40

One man meat is another man poison. I notice that Christpoher's past articles have out right and not bashful. To be real, Focus is competitng ag Corolla and City, so I personally wont expect fantastic interior furnishings. Plastic or no plastic I can liive with it. So far I like the interior. Presentable and hi tech.

Oh... u mean there's already review done on the Focus?? Is it in those mags(Torque?) as I couldn't find any review so far from the papers. Probably as it is not officially launch yet.

 

So meaning even German made could also be poor fitting?

Oh... is on today's paper..just read e review.. indeed rather unflaterring comments.

 

Will need to take a closer look if got chance to test drive it.

I cannot agree with the reviewer comments. I can't comments on the rides, as I never test drive, but I do seated in the Focus in the showroom, & the fit & finish are of a class normally found in higher class cars. This sentiment is echoes from most review I watched on Youtube. & I should know a little bit about fit & finish of the interior, as its my livelihood.

I saw the sedan model over in the states and it looks awesome. The design captured my attention right away as it drove past the hotel lobby. And whats best was it parked side by side with the new civic of which I think it looks good too. Not as bad as many forumers here think it is.

he also failed to mention the Dual clutch technology, ESP, torque vectoring and 6 airbags

 

To be fair though, he did mention that the uk motoring reviews rated the focus handling as one of the best in his class.

Will need to few more local reviews to have a more un-biased picture of the new Focus.

 

You mentioned the Focus comes with 6 airbags? How come when I texted my SE & she said is 4? Is yours the Titanium which comes with 2 more?

Here's the spec i've gotten

Specs looks good. I will get the Titanium trim model with ecoboost. Anyway, one of the reason I did not get the new ford is I am waiting for the ST model. [:p]
