Changing brake fluid

It's a one-man task if you have the right tools. For shops that are primitive in out look without brake bleeder and auto fulid refiller will require one mech, one assistant and the boss acting as operation director ( with eye power so to say ).

 

 

But if it is DIY, I think chances are don't have so many tools leh, I called up stamford tyres, even they are using the 2 man 1 pump 1 collect method leh.

 

Was just thinking maybe can do a buddy buddy DIY, so 2 car can change together.

Brake bleeders have been in the market since I started selling in the late 1970's. With ABS Brake system,without such tools, brake bleeding can never be 100% air bubble free. That's why many cars owners in Spore always complaint of "soft brakes".

all right man. Better flush my brake fluid during the next servicing as my car is more than 3 years old. Whats the market rate for flushing brake fluid?

 

It should not be too expensive with the fluid supplied from workshop and the labour charges.

stamford is charging only $35. Just that they are also using the old system.

 

maybe I just go there and get it done, easier!

I'll b doing it at my mechs ws. We prob do it together & maybe the power steering fluid as well, if he has the time.

U r welcome to come & see how we do it but I also still not sure when I wil do it.

 

Maybe after my regular EO service in a month or two only. I usually check with my mech when he free after I have got all the necessary oils & parts.

Hahaha. No need to buy coffee lah. Anyway when I busy doing the car, I no time to drink coffee also.

 

Only hope I can remember to call u when I going to do it cos might b in a couple of months time.

 

I getting a little old so memory not so good leh plus I usually just do it once I am free & my mech also got time. So can b a "last minute" kind of thing but I sure wil contact u if I remember.

 

Anyway its a simple job. Just connect the drain tube to nipple & 1 person pump the brakes & the other just keep filling the reservoir to make sure no air goes in. Do 1 brake at a time so just repeat 4 times & its done.

BTW what is the ill effects of using Dot 5 & what causes it?

ok late reply.. dot5 contains something that dot3 and dot4 doesn't have.. and this ingredient will corrode your brake system if it is not designed to take dot5

I wil stick to Original brake fluid or at least Dot 3 or 4.
