Hmmm.... I go find when I head there in 2weeks. But I dun care to buy from those stalls. I bought a few items before and when I open it up, the connectors inside were rusty, the mem chips were dusty (looks like they plug out from old mem stick to stick it on kind). I wonder if they have a local branded version.

don't know how come u all say cheaper to ship in from US let's see...

s'pore set cost $728 to $1228

US set cost $673 (USD499), to $1120 (USD829)

Plus shipping cost and 7% GST (remember u need to pay GST for items >$400) it's certainly NOT cheaper to ship in fr US.

Unless i got the prices wrong, which i got from official Apple s'pore site n USA site

You left out the sales tax, different % for different states. In New York, I think it's 12% sales tax. The prices listed in USA Apple Online Store doesn't include sales tax.

At least, Singaporea is fortunate to be one of the countries in Asia to get iPad launched locally... dunno how long will it be before Msia gets it. And as of today, I called 5 different shops and Challenger Cust Serv; all of them out of stock.

I think we are missing the point here regarding iPad.

It is not the hardware alone that determines to buy the iPad or to buy a copied one. It is the integration of hardware and software among Apple products that makes it attractive and fuss free to use.

So the questions are can you get the type of software you need to run your "pad"?

Can you sync your data with your PC or Mac seamlessly and fuss free?

Can you do whatever you need to do easily and fuss free?

At the end of the day, I use the iPad because it sync nicely with my iMac and iPhone. The key point is it is fuss free to use, and I don't get headache for using it.

Really, I am a sucker for Apple stuff.

Maybe it's a "typical" Singaporean trait - the constant focus on hardware...hahah

But I totally agree with you - it's the software and interface that won it for me...

I am still on the PC but both the iPhone and iPad syncs nicely as well...my PC is also acting as the air video server so that I can watch anything on my PC 24/7 almost anywhere [:)]

sadly the answer is no,no,no for me...

for me if I want to carry something so big as an ipad, I expect it to run a full OS with all the software I need. Example, the new sony laptop with 64Gb SSD. Same size and weight as an ipad.

the sony X series. the series X laptop which weighs just 0.1 pounds heavier, just 0.02 inch thicker BUT

comes with

keyboard,

2 usb port,

SD slot,

camera,

microphone

VGA port

ethernet port

BIGGER and better screen.

And you can change the battery for long flights.

And it run a FULL OS like windows. You can run outlook, office, photoshop, etc.... rather than a glorified ebook....

bu I guess the reply is like the following video :)
