Spartan 1st Gear October 11, 2010 Share October 11, 2010 Hi folks:; I did a wheel alignment after changing tyres last thursday. On thing I notice after the whole process is that when driving a straight road in order to drive straight my steering wheel need to be tilted to abit left. So is it the wheel alignment did not do properly ? So is it normal? What is the real problem ↡ Advertisement

Yeobh 4th Gear October 11, 2010 Share October 11, 2010 You need to drive over a side slip tester and mech will just do slight adjustments on either one of the wheel toe angle to reduce the force of wheel pulling sidway ( crab movement). Go to any shell autoservice or shops near inspection centres most of them will have the side slip tester.
Yeobh 4th Gear October 11, 2010 Share October 11, 2010 Excess pulling towards on side, if not rectified will over time cause excessive side wear on the tyres.
Yuan 6th Gear October 11, 2010 Share October 11, 2010 Need to redo aligment. I recommend u Kenny aligment at AMK. Google for the contacts details. I think Kenny has computerized alignment too. Alternatively, can try Creative Trading at Woodlands. I go there every 10k or so to do my alignment.

Firecman Neutral Newbie October 11, 2010 Share October 11, 2010 Hi folks:; I did a wheel alignment after changing tyres last thursday. On thing I notice after the whole process is that when driving a straight road in order to drive straight my steering wheel need to be tilted to abit left. So is it the wheel alignment did not do properly ? So is it normal? What is the real problem Generally, you do not need to perform wheel alignment after new tyres change. If your old wheels were swapped to the front, there is sometimes a slight 'pull' to either side. If you have not performed a wheel alignment before, it may be wise to have it checked that the toe angles are within limits. Even if the toe angles are correct, old wheels at the front will have the slight 'pull' sometimes. Also, check that the tyre pressures are correctly maintained by the tyre seller. Noobdriver Clutched August 22, 2013 Share August 22, 2013 Hi, I changed all four of my tyres from 225/45/18 to 225/40/18. Do I need to send for wheel alignment? If need to, any good workshops to recommend?

Spinelli_ck 6th Gear August 22, 2013 Share August 22, 2013 Hi, I changed all four of my tyres from 225/45/18 to 225/40/18. Do I need to send for wheel alignment? If need to, any good workshops to recommend? when was the last time you sent your car for wheel alignment? i am unsure how much Kenny charges nowadays, but you need to book an appointment prior to going down. alternatively, you could go to Aesop Auto-Care. The Malay uncle is very skilful and he takes great pride in his work. last but not least, you could drive to one of the Hawk Tayar branches in JB. definitely cheaper than what you pay in SG. Noobdriver Clutched August 22, 2013 Share August 22, 2013 (edited) I've not done any wheel alignment before. The car is 1yr 8 months now. So, what I gather from above is I should be doing my alignment not when I change tyres but when I feel the car is not moving in a straight line? If it is, then I should have done it long ago, my car is veering to the left since day one haha... Edited August 22, 2013 by Noobdriver
Sforester 1st Gear August 22, 2013 Share August 22, 2013 Just do at any Stamford tyres branch. No significant savings in shop a vs shop b. specifically, no need to do alignment after changing 4 tyres.

It is recommended to do wheel alignment every 8,000 km, be it your car is moving in a straight line or not, or you change tires or not. And you car is veering left since day one??? If so then your wheel alignment is long overdue liao...

What is the real problem that mean the mech propely never ajust the steering properly before he ajust your toe in/out. u should visit him again. bring him for a test drive with u, and show him how and where its tited, it can be ajust straight quite easily. ↡ Advertisement
