teomingern Supercharged July 30, 2017 Share July 30, 2017 Had the 2017 Edition for about 7 months. So far so good. The only thing I find it abit annoying is the road noise or tyre noise.. Hence, wondering any fellow owners here did any soundproofing and mind to share if that sound proofing really helps.. Don't bother... not worth doing aftermarket sound proofing... you're adding a lot of deadweight but reducing the road noise only by a little... often imperceptible... the Mazdas are noisy... that's the way they have been designed... I suspect in pursuing their Skyactiv direction and trying to reduce weight to make the cars more fuel efficient, more effective sound proofing was set aside... remember that sound proofing always adds a significant weight penalty. Mazdas have always had poor noise insulation... this seems to be the most common complaint among owners... I would suggest that you get better tires that are designed specifically to curb road and tire noise... that would help somewhat although at a significant cost... Got my Mazda 6 for a week. Was good to drive. Road noise...not the quietest but good enough. I've an issue with the HUD for the navigation guidance. There are multiple times when navigation is set on the infotainment, but failed to display on the HUD. I had to go into settings to reset the HUD display to off and on the lane guidance before it appears. Anyone had this issue? Is it solvable? It's a firmware issue... get Eurokars to reinstall the firmware... you have to replicate the problem for them to see... reinstalling the firmware will take a long wait... I considered the M6 2.5 vs the Civic 1.5T. Price then was $131k for the M6 and $127k for the Civic. The feel is a big difference. The M6 is a lot more premium in terms of the interior, the handling and the ride. I was very keen to get the Civic. After trying the M6, and then going back to look at the Civic, I was totally convinced to get the M6. The Civic has the size and hard plastic feel of a 1.6l. Whereas the M6 has the premium feel of a mid size sedan. Mine has 19" wheel and I find the tyre noise very ok. The noise level depends on the road surface. Some roads are very noisy. On good stretches of the PIE, it is very quiet. The Mercedes E250 had road noise also when I test drove it. I totally agree that comparing the Civics 1.5T to the Mazda 2.5 is not a straight comparison... no matter what brand, going one class up will always be better... there is a reason why there are different categories... As much as they seem to find a way to raise prices on so many things, I really don't think they would go as far as to raise road tax for cars that are non euro 6 compliant. Particularly, as those cars would have been bought in accordance with the rules and regulations at the time. That would be akin to retroactively penalizing someone . They might, however, incentivize those cars that are Euro 6 compliant by providing lower road tax for such cars, though I doubt very much
kykh Supercharged July 30, 2017 Share July 30, 2017 Very reliable. Owned one for nine years and never gave me any problems. Had almost 250 thousand km on it when I finally traded it in, and only sent for servicing every 12 or 13 thousand km after the fifth year. Kept to 10k km servicing for first five years though. I've owned many other cars in my 35 years of driving and I dare say the Mazda was my most reliable car by far. Hi, did you send your Mazda to the AD's workshop for all the routine servicing and had parts replaced according to mileage?
wpy 4th Gear July 30, 2017 Share July 30, 2017 Hi, did you send your Mazda to the AD's workshop for all the routine servicing and had parts replaced according to mileage? I did for the first five or six years (even though warranty was only for three) and left it to them to tell me which parts were worn and needed replacement. They were pretty much your usual items. After that, I used an outside workshop to service it. Mazda have fantastic designers. Even Volvo copy Mazda 6. There is no denying that.

shiv0001 Clutched July 31, 2017 Share July 31, 2017 Scratched my new car against the basement carpark wall on a tight corner (virgin scratch, heart pain)... no dents though... just two 3 inch long scratches with some white paint from the wall stuck in it..Spoke to a few helpful people and here what I am thinking so far: 1. Get the car washed at a carwash (high pressure jet to help remove the white paint) 2. Apply Touch up paint bought from Mazda Confused on whether to use products such as Meguire Scratch X etc... appreciate feedback from the Bros here on whether there's a better way to DIY it.. not very familiar with waxes/sealants yet so welcome the feedback! Cheers S

Cheers S I feel your pain. Since it's new, why don't you bring it to a car detailer and ask if they can fix it. If the scratches are only surface once, perhaps they can resolve it for you. I personally wouldn't try a DIY and, no offence, it doesn't sound like it's your thing either.

If no dent and no damage original paint, a simple polish will do the job.I did ceramic PP w package since day 1, recently sent for 2nd polish maintenance. They remove all the scratches and dents accumulated from 7mths of driving. Sooo happy..

However, if you use the second key, and then switch back to the first key, it doesn't seem to stay on.
