Kelpie 2nd Gear December 16, 2010 Share December 16, 2010 Hi all, Contemplating in getting a used W210 1997 to commute in JB. Wanted to get feedback for this Benz model, wonder whether there are any significant negative and positive things/stuffs that are known to this model. Was told parts/accessories are widely available over here and could be cheaper than Toyota. Many used Benz are still found here so guess the support are easily available here. Thank you very much. Kelpie 2nd Gear December 16, 2010 Author Share December 16, 2010 W124 is much more reliable, if u can find 1 in good condition. W124 is of high reliability though of old age. I would rather not take it due to the age. Regards,
Kelpie 2nd Gear December 16, 2010 Author Share December 16, 2010 last i heard W210 was quite unreliable though. but im sure u can get parts at propel The earlier W210 was deem unreliable,i.e. the batch that was almost a direct convert from W124 with the new body (pre 1996). Read that 1997 onwards are using new engine spec and the reliability was much enhanced. Regards,

Kelpie 2nd Gear December 16, 2010 Author Share December 16, 2010 (edited) why not get a pre-fl w211? Beyond my budget as I have no income now . So I can only look at W210. May consider old C-Class. Only use it in JB so don't want to spend too much. Regards, Edited December 16, 2010 by Kelpie
Dreamer143 Clutched December 18, 2010 Share December 18, 2010 W210 is nice vehicle better than many rivals of Mercedes, If your variable cost is affordable go for it
ER-3682 Supersonic December 18, 2010 Share December 18, 2010 why not get a pre-fl w211? This one more problematic, remember the S.B.C.[brakes system] & fuel pump, always spoilt.
Alheych 6th Gear December 18, 2010 Share December 18, 2010 i think a better bet would be a masterpiece W124 from 1995. their specs were really high and all the flaws had been ironed out, while retaining the tank build quality of the 1980s. early W210s had tin can quality, and as shown in a fifth gear video, you can shake the centre armrest, it's not that solid.
