Bieffe 2nd Gear June 15, 2014 Share June 15, 2014 So lucky didn't buy...was suppose to book together with my brother in law to get some $ off...but I hesitated. At the end got a 2nd hand Jap car....boy I was lucky. One can really see....VW expanded so fast so many on the roads....then suddenly.....so much less. Is sad...as VW seems to offer so much...but these major problems is a let down. But I know of someone who owns a Jetta for 2yrs and counting w/o ZERO issues man! Darrelltan Neutral Newbie June 16, 2014 Share June 16, 2014 Got any updates for us? Broke down yet? Hi, gearbox no issue and drive is ok. For overtaking while cruising, better to switch to S mode than to floor the accelerator. S mode is instant power whereas there is a lag if I floor accelerator in D mode. First tank, 9km/l Second tank 10.5km/l Third tank 11.2km/l All figures based on total mileage divided by litres of petrol pumped to fill up to full tank again. However, rear cabin light switch knob broke. It is made of some cheapo "crispy" thin plastic assembly that will break easily. Went back to VW and they will indent the item and cover under warranty. Reasonable lah. BUT when I was back there, I saw some cars with new car plates also, kind of worrying why they need to go back. Petrol tank door cannot open. Have to use credit card to lightly pry open. Will send in to them to check next time. Maybe this is their "anti theft" mechanism. So far, no issue as I have to take my credit card with me whenever i go to the pump so it is just 2 seconds wasted. Will address this at 15000km servicing. Will update if there are any issues. ER-3682 Supersonic June 16, 2014 Share June 16, 2014 WTF,one small knob also no stock... ,i tell you, they will 'forget' to indent for you when you send in your car next time...this happened to my Brother in Law's Sharan...

Hahaha... Wonder is the a part that actually won't spoil in VW car?.... Hehehe And frankly, from those item that fail, it reminds me of proton when it was just started... Every item will breakdown when is new and get worst when old... Hehehe WTF,one small knob also no stock... ,i tell you, they will 'forget' to indent for you when you send in your car next time...this happened to my Brother in Law's Sharan... If a plastics part can break when new, means it uses sub standard resin or even regrind material to cut cost.... Hehehe

WTF,one small knob also no stock... ,i tell you, they will 'forget' to indent for you when you send in your car next time...this happened to my Brother in Law's Sharan... Oh, coz they said will change the entire assembly. I was also puzzled and asked, one knob spoil and you change the entire light assembly? The customer service guy told me "claim from Germany". So i see...this is how authorised agents here make money. Claim parts and time cost (of reinstallation) from VW Germany. So i ask myself, there is no incentive for VW Singapore to feedback all these fault to VW Germany. If a car comes near to perfect, then the VW workshop will not be profitable anymore? Not surprising for those who have owned European cars before. Not just German cars. French & Swedish cars are also made like that. That's what makes them annoying when parts start to fail or fall apart.

That's what makes them annoying when parts start to fail or fall apart. The next time I get a European car, I am leaning towards one with 5 year warranty. Just don't think that 3 years is enough. don't wait till 15K then do you first servicing. strongly suggest you do it at 7.5k with a reputable workshop as our local weather is too hot for the EO to last till 15k. Thank you Vega. I am fully agreeable with you on this. Singapore weather is too hot and actually the main culprit is humidity that causes EO to have shorter lifespan. Even with my old vios, I didnt do 10k servicing but 7k. Therefore, I have 3 oil changes for every 20k rather than twice. Anyway, change EO and filter only, it is an affordable preventive measure to take. Cheers

Well, maybe they aren't the only ones. When I sent my Vios to BM, I also kena a lot of service irregularities such as only rotating one side of my tyres and not the other...then have to argue with the customer service until I had to tell him, you take out all 4 tyres and I show you. If I cannot convince you, I take off my pants. Sigh...

Darrelltan Neutral Newbie June 22, 2014 Share June 22, 2014 So in the end, who take off pants? BM customer service have to admit their error loh. And then I told them mechanic 53 should not touch my car anymore. And i have to question them, "then how i know my EO was changed, my spark plugs not old ones and my oil filter is original"? They were dumbfounded. No one dared to look me in my eyes. i am quite understanding with errors but not when they took me for a fool and still dared to argue. End up giving me Esso petrol vouchers. Took it and never went back again. Toyota go anywhere also can service so I could find alternatives. Not sure for European car (with its electronics) can I go outside? Coz outside workshops might not have the diagnostic tools....any suggestions from any fellow VW-owners?

I agree. Though my intervals for servicing is more than 7.5k km but definitely less than 15k km. Not sure for European car (with its electronics) can I go outside? Coz outside workshops might not have the diagnostic tools....any suggestions from any fellow VW-owners? Your queries may best be found in the VAGSG forum. More VW owners there and you can do a search in that forum.

You can get your own even if the workshop doesn't have one. You can do your own Service/Oil Indicator Reset. Here's an example. http://www.obdtoolstore.com/shop/product_info.php?currency=SGD&cPath=23&products_id=81&osCsid=84a40d28f929892d3adc3074ed72b7a8
Picanto 3rd Gear July 5, 2014 Share July 5, 2014 Thank you for your interest in Volkswagen brand and its range of vehicles. We would like to explain that the Aftersales team is continuously improving on customer satisfaction. Major improvements are seen in various fields and you can be assured that the entire team is committed on improving our daily operations and processes. One of our significant effort in terms of customer satisfaction is that we successfully reduced the waiting time for servicing appointments from over 20 days to an average of 3 days. Our continuous improvement effort also involves customer education. Therefore, “My Volkswagen” event was introduced. It is an intimate customer interaction program that will equip Volkswagen owners with the relevant knowledge about their Volkswagen vehicle. Finally, with regards to the DSG concerns, we would like to inform that Volkswagen Singapore conducted a voluntary recall of 6,181 cars fitted with the DQ200 7-speed DSG gearbox in May 2013. This recall involved changing the mechatronic unit in the affected gearboxes, and it effectively solved all outstanding issues with the gearbox. The recall campaign was completed in January 2014. Vehicles manufactured in 2014 are not affected with the issue. We hope the above would be of good information to you and that you will be a Volkswagen owner real soon. We would also require your particulars (i.e. full name, contact no. and mailing address) as we would like to send you a token of appreciation for your interest. We look forward to your kind reply.
