Mazda Biante MPV

2 questions.

What pressure do you guys pump for your stock tyres? The sticker at the door states 220. I pump 230.

What is your average FC?

9L/100km you sure? I have been driving for 6 months plus, my avg FC is 14.1 now. I have never hit 9 for FC. Even the lowest was around 13.

Sorry I not sure you confused with Km/L and L/Km? My 9Km/L is derived from manual calculation and not from dashboard display. Long term FC on the display always indicate about 11.3L/Km which is about 9Km/L from my calculation.

Your FC is quite bad if it is at 14.1L/Km which translates to 7.1Km/L.

As for tyre pressure, I always pump to 270 instead of 220/230 as recommended by Mazda.

This could be the reason for better FC. To me, my ride is not bouncy as expected, perhaps due to softer suspension used.

Try it to see if you like it, and keep it for a tank or 2 of fuel to see if FC improves. Just revert if not to your liking. Do not worry that the tyres will burst, they can take much higher pressure.

We went to the showroom to see Mazda 5. Not impressed so we went over to check out Biante and were very impressed by it and it costs just $17K more than Mazda 5. At $143K after all the discount, it is about the price of Wish!. Of course, still need to add $7K bank interest. Without bank loan, the price is $146.5K. This is a very good price for a full size MPV. The sense of space is huge. The windscreen looks infinity and beyond. There is also $1K over-trade for trade-in cars.

The white leather looks nice. But I think it won't last. The agent said it will cost $200 to change the leather color to black. Anyone here changed the leather?

There are a lot of glasses on Biante. In Singapore weather, I think the visor must also be darken further.

Hi kmttan,

Is 143k for the demo unit as per advertisement or they offer you the new ones?

Test drove both last month, and family voted for the obvious - Biante. As the driver however... obvious lack of power (while the new Mazda 5 gave me the o' so familiar feel and confidence... have been driving one for almost 10years). It was a hot day and passengers in both 2nd and third row has high praise on cooling and space.

It is not the demo unit. The original price is as the one listed in sgcarmart $153K,

Extended Warranty 3+2 years. $2K rebate if only want 3 years warranty

discount $3K

Insurance rebate $500 (if buy from their AIG agent)

Finance rebate $1500

over trade $1K

So, for 3 years warranty + servicing, the total rebate is $2K + $3K + $500 + $1500 + $1K = $8K. So, the net price is $153K - 8K = $145K. I apologize for the erroneous $143k. Don't know why keep thinking about this figure. Must be Toyota Wish's price.

If go for 3+2 extended warranty, own insurance and no loan, the car will cost $149K

I see.. that make sense, since demo unit is typically 2k less. Getting insurance from their partner should be a good deal (typical insurance should be around $800+ based on 50% NCD?), but not fully convince that partner financing is a better deal, there are other financing options worth exploring . Then again, on a 10-year basis, difference isn't going to be much.

Hi guys,

Keen on this Biante.

Currently driving a honda freed. Was looking at Honda Mobilo, but don't really like it when I went to showroom yesterday.

Started to look at other makes, Mazda 5 and Biante caught my attention! Esp Biante, big interior at $140k (still quite ex, but seems value for $)

Planning to go to Leng Kee showroom on the coming long weekend.

Anyone got SE to recommend?

Hope to get good trade in value (and freebies!)

Thanks.

I got mine from Ubi branch, so can't advise on Leng Kee showroom.

But you should be able to get a quote on your current ride on the spot if their used car division ppl are there. Can do a check on sgcarmart to see how much your ride can fetch now. That would help alot in deciding if their quote is reasonable. For me it is if it is 5k to 10k lower.

Be prepared with your cheque book. Knock a few k off the best price they could offer and show your sincerity with the prop. Insist that he/she escalate with the manager if he reject outright. Just to share my success story, I got 5k off after the SE made a few calls on the spot.

But so that you will not regret later, if you have appetite for PI cars, you should check out the triplets in another thread. But please know what you are getting yourself into. Happy car hunting.

5K is a lot. Are there anything that you compromised? Did you change the leather to dark color? How is the fuel efficiency so far? Thanks.

I test drove M5 and Biante yesterday. M5 is easier to drive and Biante is spacious. Biante cost $15K more but the OMV is only $1K more. I am wondering if the AD has pocketed the $13K difference.

Ya, you are right.

The AD margin for M5 is 17% while for Biante is 29% base on the list price.

I feel you can go for a hard bargain for Biante.

No compromise. Show hand after everything discussed. Maybe they were hungry for business and willing to absorb due to larger margin for profit. You can try 2k to 3k if you are not so garang.

Mine was the first shipment, no dark colour option. FC is now about 9km/L due to start-stop and short distance driving pattern.

Biante is actually not that difficult to drive and it is only about 15cm longer and taller. You have to look beyond OMV sometimes, and see the package in totality.

Went to view Biante last weekend.

Observed that the 3rd Row bench seats are quite low due to the ascending floorboard to create a theatre like view, as a result when seated, the knee bent quite a fair bit, almost like squatting, not too comfortable for long ride. The 2nd row seats are OK though.

Any onwers can advise whether the 3rd row seats height can be adjusted ?

Bro, I went to test drive the Biante a few weeks back, found that the drive was not too bad, but noticed that when I flicked the signal stick halfway, the signal doesn't flick 3 times, like other cars do. Can confirm?

Other than this which I don't quite like, the other is no auto-headlights. No auto-wiper I still can live with it.

Then again, at today's price, it's one of the best value MPV, if you can live with the 2 airbag configuration.
