using the reason of major depressive order again...

but then, no excuse this time... good riddance

SINGAPORE: A former teacher was jailed on Friday for 18 months for assaulting and molesting his girlfriend's sister on May 24 last year.

He is not named to protect the victim's identity.

The 29-year-old man used to stay at his girlfriend's family flat where he shared a room with the woman and her younger sibling.

However, the younger girl who did not like having him in her home hardly spoke to each other.

According to Deputy Public Prosecutor Eunice Chong, the man and the girl who was then 19-years-old, were at home.

The man who had been drinking some beer tried to speak to the girl who was asleep in her bedroom.

She ignored him when he tried to wake her up.

Enraged, the man pummelled the girl repeatedly with his fists and kicked her on the upper thigh until she fell unconscious onto the floor.

He then undressed her, touching her thighs and legs while he stripped off her underwear and shorts.

DPP Chong said he then used his mobile phone to film the unconscious girl's body.

Calling it a "vicious" and an "unprovoked" attack, the prosecution said the girl was bleeding from both ears and had multiple bleeding spots in her eyes after the assault.

The young girl also suffered numerous bruises, abrasions as well as scratch marks all over her body and had to be warded for eight days at the National University Hospital.

DDP Chong said the girl's father came home shortly after the attack only to find his daughter lying battered on the floor.

The father informed the authorities and officers arrived to arrest her attacker.

Defence counsel Stuart Palmer told Community Court Judge Ng Peng Hong that his client was suffering from major depressive disorder that could have affected his self control.

The lawyer also highlighted that his client had stayed at his girlfriend's flat for more than two years without incident.

The man had moved out of his family's flat after finding out he was an adopted child, said Mr Palmer.

The prosecution, however, stressed that the 19-year-old was attacked in the sanctity of her own home.

"The sexual slant to the assault" made the man's actions "all the more reprehensible", said DPP Chong.

How come nowadays any this type of cases, the defence will surely come out with a kind of new disorder? Is this a trend? No other tricks up the defence lawyer's sleeves?

I wonder if teachers more prone to sexual offences compared to others. Can't be helped when u are surrounded by sweet young nubile things. Of course hope this is the minority but lately have noted negative news about teachers

Lucky I'm not in this profession or else likely to read about me in the papers ..............just kidding

some questions came to my mind when i read this news... maybe there were more than meet the eye

1. why the gf's parents allowed the sister (19 already) to share the same room?

2. why the bugger resort to such extreme violence against a helpless young girl?

3. why he "only" touched his legs after undressing her?

(2) and (3) are highly abnormal... maybe he has a mental case after all

Wah SG so dangerous got this kind of thing. I tot many pple say MY dangerous but this is even worse. Being attacked in the safety of yr own home is worse than being attacked on the street.

I think SG is more dangerous than JB even. [knife]

Moral of the story is not to adopt a child.

nowadays, young people very ironic ... control them too much, say traditional lau-ku-tong; but let them roam free, they do all sorts of funny things.

i just dun understand why a pak-tor-ing couple must stay together - literally ?? like boy or girl go and stay over at each others homes ?? there is so much time to stay together after you are married - until you want to stay apart even !!
