2 yrs back, saw a small sedan on the next inspection lane sweating it out to tear his tint.

Then the old bird technician came along n told him no need lah,

We failed you liao. Come back again.

If main or rear windscreen will be difficult. If just side windows it's quite easy. I took it off in one min. No needed to go back. Anyway second inspection is free

I was told that you can tear the tint off, but it will leave a layer of glue on the windows where you should not wind down the windows. It will cause a mess.

Best is to remove before you go for inspection if you know yours will not pass. They will check and fail you.

Is it that easy to tear without a trained technician help? I have seem some youtube clips on DIY, but still don't think i can able to remove the front and back windscreen tints.

It is very easy to remove the plastic tint. Just have to find a edge and remove abit of the plastic. Once you gain access to this bit of plastic, you can actually tear it off slowly and as you tear, the torn out plastic portion gets bigger and it gets easier. After that the results would be the normal windscreen, nothing else-no chemical, no glue. Can do it less than a minute and last time I used to do it just before any inspection. [cool]

As long as the darknes could pass the inspection.

The pass fail  judgement is via a Tinting Testing device not by the Inspector eyes. So what ever time you go to the testing centre the testing is not subject to the surrounding light / brightness.
