There are MP and Ministers who have failed us. But I still want the best possible candidate in the hot seat for the highest possible chance of success. Get rid of the bad apples, sanitise and make palatable some of the issues. But don't ask for an average person in the job. He will only perform averagely. Pay is emotional because each and everyone of us has a salary and we compare. All work is honorable and we work for our salaries. I empathize with the coffee lady, the guy who moves the boxes in the factory, the admin asst and the rest of the "poorer" group. I was there before as well. But if my company tells me I should be paid less because it is more equitable to them, obviously its time for a new company

Get the best guys for the job and pay them the best pay. If they fail to deliver, move them to less demanding portfolio (not perpetually switching but perhaps 1 chance) and determine if they can manage else gracefully release them from service. I think accountability and code of governance should be detailed and made transparent as much as or more than the job responsibility and pay.

WP uncovers insights and speaks in a language that i can understand.

PAP beats around the bush and only speaks in favour of the house.

It might work to extend the current high salary of the ministers advantage, can get the high salary while the motion is rejected!!

let's say 80% paid for variable = 10.8 months

13 + 10.8 = 23.8 months = 2 years salary for 1 year work?

I do think ministers are paid too high.

But i also agree that pay is an emotional issue. Sometimes our sentiment is illogical.

No one wants a pay cut ala Grace Fu.

 

If the pay gap between them and the senior Govt pple eg. Perm Secs and Directors etc is not sufficient, then no one will want to step up their ball game to move to the next level.

Perm Sec or Director, u won't get so stomped easily

 

It doesn't make sense to have Minister salary pegged to below Admin Service, cos you're supposedly better than the Admin service officers, that's y u got selected to be ministar

Lastly , at least give thanks to the 40% lah . While you can continue to be the 60% and belive that ministars need millions dollar . Otherwise red dot will become black dot .

You think 60.1 ppl are farking dumb to just think of this? Then the 39.9% are equally farking dumb....

 

For the record, I am in the 39.9%. It just gets to my nerve that just because people don't vote for opposition is labelled as stupid, dumb, whatever you name it.....
