Switch from Iphone to Galaxy Notes??

when you compare you need to quantify what aspect and by extension the basis. when i mentioned sharpness, i was referring to pixel per inch ie ppi.

iPhone 4S has 329 ppi as compared to 284 ppi for Note. 329 ppi is already at the threshold beyond which the human eye is unable to appreciably distinguish differences in ppi.

iPhone 4S however is still on SLCD which is inferior in terms of contrast ratio compared to AMOLED. And of course other points of comparison i have not touched on.

Ok.. I read abt the ppi before.. But yup, I just feel the note is easier on the eye.. Probably becuz it's large.. I just feel the color contrast is very good and feels as sharp as the 4s.. At least to me..

yeah. this is what all my friends told me when you dump iphone to S2 or note. no matter what the spec states, customers just want to have a phone that is easy to use, good to look at, display attractive, etc.

I am quite particular about colour reproduction and after getting the S2, i wasted no time in downloading a colour tuning app that tweaked the blue bias of the screen to a more amiable compromise between RGB. I also adjust the colour display temperature to straddle somewhat between cool and warm. It was too warm in stock form for my liking.

Absolutely.. U couldnt have said it better.. End of the day specs counts on the paper only.. Usability, display etc when hands on is much more important..

And for me the Note is miles ahead..

That is true. When I bought my Samsung Omnia 5yrs ago, the spec then was so much better than Iphone, but Samsung usability sucks, gave up the phone after contract expired and switch to Iphone.

Applies to SGS2 too.. after using the SGS2 for 1year, i see my gf's IP4S screen i BTH... [laugh] everything is so tiny..

For phone's OS upgrade, Iphone uses Itune, what about Galaxy Note, what software do they use? and also as for your contact, calendar, would that be restored after the upgrade, or you need to sync with Google again? Apps will be restored too, right?

Last time I had bad experience with my Samsung Omnia, which I lost all the data after the OS upgrade, it basically flush my Omnia phone clean. [:(]

unless you sway until lose phone and laptop crash [:p]

haha i encountered this issue before.....called up samsung and they admit their software for email is problematic.

solution :- download K9 mail from android market and use it instead. however, i have to say the interface of samsung is cooler than k9.

I just switched from Iphone 4S to Note

very happy with it so far, except for voice dialling via the handsfree (not available)

1) Transfer contacts - very easy. sync your iphone to gmail. then sync your Note to gmail (some names appear half only due to fields, but is ok)

2) Transfer songs - very easy, use KIES (which is their version of itunes)

3) Transfer photos - very easy, just drag and drop into the phone or SD card memory. One thing to note, try to compress the photos if you have many pictures.

4) Transfer SMS - not easy, have to use apps. so in the end I did not bother

Yeah agree, Iphone keyboard is very intelligent, eg

"He singa"

Iphone: "He Sings"

"He lives in singa"

Iphone: "He lives in Singapore"

Tip for Samsung Galaxy users who switched from Iphone:

Problem:

Using the samsung S2 for 2 months, I felt the stock keyboard in the S2 is not as user friendly as the iphone. The predictive text is very robotic is picks the closest text of your spelling mistakes. So in the end rubbish is displayed. Iphone's spellcheck is smarter and they sort of predict what you want to type while comparing with you previous texts. should sometimes they changed to the wrong words that make the whole text funny but the samsung is worst as the text got no meaning at all!!

example

You meant:

"Later just take lift to the first floor."

In iphone the spell check may change to:

"Later just take lift to the fist floor."

In S2, the spell check will change to:

"Karen just raw lift to first flier."

I'm not sure if you know what I mean but I was struggling at first.

Solution:

Then I FOUND my saviour!!

Android Market: GO keyboard (free) - Download it!

After installing and selecting GO Keyboard as the default keyboard, go to settings:

Input settings:

Key Correction: On

Display Suggestions: On

Auto-Space: On

Auto-Complete: On

Auto-Capitalization: On

Sliding Mode: Off

Learn New Words: On

RTL: On

Viola! Works like iphone's keyboard!

Addition stuff you can explore:

- Sliding mode like SWIPE

- Themes and color customizable

- customized keys to display

- etc..
