Hello all,

Was hoping anyone can advice on the email address for Mazda corporate HQ or contact.

My dad's Mazda 2 under went routine servicing with the agent 3 days ago. While on the road, the car suddenly stalled and water gushed out from under bonnet. After the car cooled, we have noticed that the cooler cap is missing.

The car was unable to start thereafter, and had been towed back to the agent. We were quoted 5k for a complete engine overhaul. Obviously, we we highlighted that servicing had just been done hence how could the car gotten into such a state out of sudden. Unfortunately, the agent is unable to give a good explanation and shrug off as wear and tear :(

Anyone has such experience and what actions been taken? It is really unfair that the responsibility is thrown back to us while we had diligently sent for servicing etc.

If anyone has the email address for Madza public relation etc, do feel free to share too as I would like to write and share with them on my experience and the service (the lack of it actually) provided by it's agent.

Thanks!

In the first place, what was the "routine service" done on the car?

When it happened, what was the timeline between the service and when this thing happened?

You say cooler cap, are you referring to the radiator cap?

I was wondering if the radiator cap missing was due to the pressure build up in the radiator itself and during the course of vehicle movenment, the cap drop and lost along the way till the car stalled.

never tighten properly, drive a few days and came loose.

Confirm must overhaul? I encountered before, the car keep on stalling when hot (didn't check the water temp gauge), towed to the WS and found out the radiator leaked, replaced the radiator and car ok liao. Maybe you can seek a second opinion.

Unless you are able to prove that the radiator cap was not properly replaced during servicing, I think quite difficult.

Regardless if radiator cap missing, coolant leak, thermostat, water pump not working etc. the temperature would have shot up and as a driver, you would have noticed. Visibly you can see and smell the smoke coming out, hot air coming out of the aircon vent.

In such situation, have to stop driving immediately to avoid damage to the engine.

i thought the Mazda have temp gauge?? Usually the ECU would have alert the driver on the dash already right and stop the engine..

To drive until stall, it is obvious driver did not notice his temp gauge and what has happened to the car.

That brings me to the next question...how to claim from the agent?

iirc.. the Mazda 2 DE doesn't have temp gauge.. it is only the Blue/Red indicator like those we see on the Jazz/Fit GD..

Drove around for three days? Without the cap, once you drove out of workshop within few km water will be spilling out.
