Advise needed! Mazda agent deny responsibility for damage

To add on to TS complaints, Mazda's current (newly-appointed) AD 'Trans Eurokars' is indeed providing less than ideal after-sales service:

My Mazda just over 3 years is experiencing heavy/stiff steerring on one side, Pressure OK, Alignment OK

1st visit to Technicians at Mazda Ubi said there was no problem and Service Consultant commented it's "Psychological" and even said "car can move can already" (??!?)

Lodged a complaint and headeed down to Alexandra, where the Technicians are more experienced and did a more thorough check and suspected faults in the Electric Power Assisted Steering and/or Steering Rack.

They could not confirm which too, and according to them it's due to "Wear and Tear". To replace the entire steering system would cause $4000-$5000.

i'm frustrated as this is to quite an extent, a safety issue as i never know when the PS would fail suddenly. Though i am a technical noob with Cars etc, it is quite ridiculous for such a major part to fail at 3 years due to 'Wear and Tear'. Goodness, so i have to replace PS System and Steering Rack 3 years later(!?) If it is indeed Wear and Tear, i will have no choice but to replace but the biggest issue now is the Technicians could not confirm what is the exact problem! And if the issue persisted even after replacing the Steering System..?

The most upsetting issue is that i have previously complained about abnormal noises during my routine servicing (with Trans Eurokars ever since they took over) and was given the "it's normal no problem, just monitor" when during the Warranty period. This may or may not have been linked, but could they be the symptoms of a failing PS System which Technicians failed to discover or simply refuse to look into it until it breaks?

I have not experienced all these with previous AD Mazda Motor SG at Kg Ampat when Mr Phng was at the helm =(

I have lodged another complain and awaiting their reply for a logical solution, and thus i have left out the specific Model, Problems, Names etc to be fair to everyone. Mine is not the first issue encountered, and i am hoping for the new (current) AD improves. Otherwise, HELLO to the Contis with the more attractive prices and the pleasure of owning one =)

I also got a bad experience with AD.

Send car in to replace ECU. After collected car, noticed aircon not cold. Drive back immediately, they deny that touch the aircon. In the end, offered to top-up gas for me. But it didn't help and this started a 2-year aircon nightmare for me, spending almost $2K in the process.

True, it may be wear and tear, but the fact that my aircon was working fine and it up-lorry IMMEDIATELY after leaving their workshop is hard to swallow.

In the end suck thumb, and I have never gone back for any repairs or servicing since.

But the problem in Singapore is... boycott? Very soon you will realize that the other companies more or less the same. Similar to other product or services. LL have to go back to them sooner or later.

i also had a bad experience about aircon problems with an AD too, my aircon compressor spoil and wasnt cold after one of those regular servicing.. of cos they deny touching it and blame it on wear and tear. But i know that they had some responsiblity and contributed to the early compressor retirement,

Bcos when i recieved back the car, I noticed the aircon fan position is turned to maximum blast and temperature turned to lowest setting. I always make it a point not to blast the aircon so as to prolong the life of it. Even then i would never turn the aircon to the coldest setting too. So definitely some one has been tampering with it while in the workshop. The mechanics must have enjoyed aircon while servicing or during test drive.

I noticed this change in my aircon settings on another seperate servicing interval before but never thought much about it. So God knows how many other routine servicings before that they have been blasting customers car's aircon away without their knowledge.

In the end LLST paid to replace compressor but AD did offer a discount.

Guess it is best + prudent to check yr ride b4 signing on e line tat confirm all in order blah blah blah.

Singaporeans are always/usually in such a hurry to sign + go off. If notice something amiss or nt right, do kpkb loudly there and then. Dun wait until too long becos tat is where e roti prata man in most if not all AD mechanics/svc mgr etc come in. Even when driven out of svc centre and notice strange sounds/noises etc that were not there b4 servicing, make a U-Turn immediately and demand a thorough check. Rather be a "nasty" customer then hv to suck own thumb later by being "nice". Of cos, pls b reasonable and dun create mountain out of molehill if e diagnostic checks etc confirm all is fine. To protect yrself further, insist they enter yr complaints into yr ride's service log and to ensure there is a paper trail, send an email to e GM for records. Easier for recourse if properly documented.

Just my tots.....it is yr car and u are entitled to hv it serviced properly, especially whilst under wty. It is to the AD's benefit to hv a good reputation for being reliable and excellent after sales service. If they choose to close an eye, then they will be digging graves for themselves when word gets out....makes a laughing stock of their brand and wty.

Safe ride

Cheers

Neutral Newbie

Actually what's frustrating to me most is that the agent refuse any responsibility and quoted 5k; and refuses any wavier/discount of goodwill; you would already know how much markup the agent does with it's spares and fanciful "service"

My independent mechanic anyway has quoted me at 40% of the agent price so I will take the the mechanic offer instead.

Considering the kind of service the current agent is offering, i personally think that people getting Madza would like to think twice or be a expectional good mechanic or lawyer to sign off your car :)

I am driving a different make (madza's my dad) and my agent is more responsible than this based on my 5 yr experience!

Mazda are great cars but my experience with the last ad is a no no.

If the current ad also like this, I guess that I would have to say good bye to them till service returns to topnotch.

Seems like so far only ads which have no complains are Lexus & Alfas.

Kopties' story. [laugh] If they can miss such a simple visual check item...would you trust them in tighening all the screw and nut. After "reasoning" with them thru' email/phone call than they gave me a written "email". [laugh] Is a "momento from borneo which i have kept for all these years. [laugh]

Dear Mr Low

We refer to your email of 4 June 2010 and are disappointed to read of the way the matter was poorly handled in your experience with us.

We wish to explain that our technician noted the faulty third brake light and had indicated the same on the service menu checklist. The Service Engineer Fang Yeow, overlooked the same and failed to inform you. Upon discovering that he missed this comment whilst going through the service job and cost with you, he immediately arranged to have the bulb replaced. [i like to reiterate here i was the one that alerted the SE my third break light bulb blown and wasn't replaced when mechanic drove my car out to the main lobby.]

Please accept our sincere apologies of this incident due to internal miscommunication. There should be no excuse on our part for this shortcoming in our service and we assure you that your experience is not indicative of the service standards we strive to provide to our customers. We have also counselled the Service Engineer concerned and his performance will be monitored to prevent recurrence of the same.

We thank you for giving us the opportunity to explain and appreciate your kind understanding on this.

Thank you and best regards

Chia Yeow Ping
