Hi hi, is it possible to get reasonably wieghted 16" with small folded footprint at ~$700? Reason being i am attempting to squeeze 2 or 3 folding bikes into my suv boot without folding my rear seats down. Appreciate gurus' advice as I am a noob in folding bike. Thanks!!

Depends on how small the bike can be folded.

It is best to take your SUV to the shop and try.

I had seen 1 folding bike goes into Front Trunk of Porsche Cayman.

Any recommended models that I can start looking at? Did a search and I see a sea of brands and models.😅

Rather than looking at bike brand, you should look for bike shop you are comfortable with.

It is unlikely you are going to service your own bike.

In the west, try mybikeshop. In the East, try Mighty Velo

My Monotine foldie is full aluminium frame. It's ride & price are decent.

I think it's shop is still in the East side. Just Google it.

Went to mybikeshop and they do not have any bike that could fit my boot. 😂 Their min size is 20". So far based on mr google and ard $700~$1000 budget, I shortlisted Fnhon freedom, Crius shadow, 3sixty (only 20" that matches 16" folded footprint) and Hito 16" for their folded size. Any of these brands to avoid? 😅

Dahon used to be quite popular a few years back. Not to sure is it still available? The bike shop was located at Sin Ming Midview in the past.

Just sharing. The rear derailluer on my 6-yr old Dahon snapped into 2. Don't know why. Looks like material fatigue.

Apparently the RD is of a unique design used only in Dahon and Tern and not easily replaceable. Can't find spare RDs in SG. There is no official support for Dahon in SG now (used to have). Mybikeshops not keen to help.

My advice after this experience: buy bike with common-brand components (e.g. shimano), avoid bespoke parts.

Buy bike from shop with good after sales support

Dahon & Tern is a brand I avoided long long time ago

To fit 3 16 inch into your boot, you have only 1 choice.
Forget about whatever you found

They were the most popular foldie brands in those days. Didn't think support would be so bad. MBS...don't say liao..haiz...

Thanks for your advice. I shall stay far far away from this brand.

I actually wanted to get a Dahon a few years back. The sales guy at Mid View Sin Ming turn me off. In the end gotten a 700C bike instead. Happy riding it till now.

Brompton.
It is the only folding bike I know that can fit Porsche Boxster front trunk.

Don’t ask the price.
