Mother of ALL JAMs in at Checkpoint

HSR? MRT to JB? You may have given them too much credit for having thought thru all these projects (and other projects) thoroughly. Often left hand doesn't know what right hand doing hor....

Huh? Multi billion dollar projects with no planning across ministries and involving multi agencies but subtle / conspiracy style manoeuvers to "purposely" (I am quoting) slow down traffic at land border crossings to keep retail spendings in SG?

Okok.... We confirm our govt has been very successful in planning massive screw ups.

agree with your point that intentionally stopping people go MY is ridiculous and wont hold water

however, i used Tuas ciq many many many times ....

i can say absolutely HARDLY see both “sides” operate at the same time even during peak hours

you know what i mean by both “sides” right ... the ciq right ahead the road and another one turn big left

i am talking about exit spore to msia ...

while coming back i do experience open both sides

as we see even turning 1 exit lane to “reverse” entry lane

hence, i do have the feeling spore ciq want to clear entry to spore but not too keen on exit from spore

Just to clarify my point.

In my 10-20 years of land border crossing, I have never been stucked in a CIQ jam that is more than 1 hour at SG side (maybe I am lucky). I have however experienced freaking 3-6 hours crossings and it is almost always due to bad jams at CIQ Sultan Abu Bakar Tanjung or backflow causeway traffic from JB CIQ.

Of course SG side will jam a little during peak hours as well, when thousands of travelers decided to cross the land border at the same time. Like morning peak hours MRT travel but does not mean LTA is slowing the trains down. It is just a peak hour capacity issue.

At super peak hours, all the SG CIQ counters are almost always manned and operated but that is not the case for MY side.

This unsubstantiated argument/ conspiracy theory that SG govt is INTENTIONALLY causing jams to discourage travel to MY just does not hold much water for me, at least from my own experience. If that is the case, SG would not have agreed to extend our MRT network into JB and the HSR agreement won't be signed in the first place. Who is repeatedly delaying both projects (see link)?

Seriously, if SG govt wants to discourage retail spending in MY, start by implementing 100% fuel check. The frequency of jam will chow chow reduce by half. They could also open half the counters on weekends. Easy peasy lah.

Please try to convince me my above points and observations are without merits and/ or not valid. Happy to hear you or anyone's logical arguments.

I was always sceptical about using tuas side where the MY side can be very unpredictable.

I did use it on last Sunday night coming back and was jammed for 3.5h. I was cursing my decision then till I realized that woodlands jam was at least double that of Tuas.

Use Google maps to check how long the black or red lines are before heading there or causeway. It works for me.

Causeway to JB CIQ is 2 lanes and 2km from Woodlands? It is visible on camera but CIQ Sultan Abu Bakar Tanjung can be an fxxking ambush. I think it is 3-4 lanes wide and 5km long from Tuas checkpoint.

But for frequent JB cheongers, I heard Tuas usually faster on normal weekends.

But one hour drive from Tuas Malaysian side to central JB.

Yup. I usually use Tuas if I am going up to KL. Causeway is my default crossing point.

No jam today! Shocking! ð¯

Must buy 4D. 1808?

Muayhahahahhaha..

Purposely took the whole week off to come back today from Penang. Reach tuas custom today around 7pm, literally no car at all. Only had to wait 1 car in the queue for both sg and msia side.
