He is not worldly, or streetsmart, at all... If compared to his dad.

Not able to forecast future behavior based on historical and current acts. Not exactly a think tank member I will want in my group. Doubt US will find him as useful as they found his dad.

Anyway, the opinion piece is over 2 years back, before this SCS issue blew up into this international flash point

The most current piece is SG agreed to issue a joint ASEAN statement against China.

Where is the neutrality your PM is talking about?

When you have a think tank working for you and you got to choose if people like Long is good enough to work under you, please come back to the forum and let us know. I will buy you chilli crab or whatever seafood you like.

Nice.

How do you think the US administration and Chinese Government view leaders of Singapore?

In simple terms, the interaction is at the level where it benefits their own country.

If SG leaders and their views cannot contribute to their respective greater goals, it is a waste of their time, and will be sidelined.

Loong works hard, but what is his vision for Singapore?

LKY's vision crudely, is to transform a mudflat into a metropolis. Even Deng Xiao Ping and Zhou Enlai is impressed.

I know it is difficult when one is always compared to his dad.

But even GCT has to come up with one before he knows where to lead the country.

Of course, these are just my humble opinions and will be glad to hear more optimistic arguments

Do you think I can decide if LHL is to be part of US thinktank?

Only I can decide if I want Joseph22 to be part of my group.

Don't worry. We don't like each other to be in each other team.

The Chinese military has been given lots of resources in recent years, and they are probably very eager to prove their worth.

They have to make sure they only give the Filipinos a bloody nose, and not Uncle Sam (they might lose the punching arm).  President Xi would lose face big time.

Our Long Ge shared his take when asked by the floor on the SCS issue at the conference by US Chamber of Commerce.

What do you guys think of his answer? There must be a transcript somewhere...

I kind of see more of his father's trait in him over the last decade. Diplomatic yet with conviction. Can't wait to see how he fares when he talks to the US politicians who are divided on the TPP.
