ins1dious Turbocharged May 22, 2012 Share May 22, 2012 (edited) I like the design... even if its borrowed quite a bit from other cars... I see bits of the big Maser in the 3rd quarter and the front gills on the side as well. The front is all F10. The interior too with bits of BMW, Audi thrown in. But it all works. I think it looks great. The KIA designers are on a roll here. Saw a driven review on youtube. Some fantastic tech in the car. Ngaiadam Neutral Newbie May 22, 2012 Share May 22, 2012 The KIA designers is the one to design for Audi and Kimchi hire him to help them design all new K series... Forte/Koup is the first steeping stone project.

Proton_neutron 1st Gear May 22, 2012 Share May 22, 2012 I have personally sat in the Hyundai Equus which is the K9's sibling. I was blown away with how nicely made and assembled the interior was! It easily beats S-Class and even Lexus LS460 without making a fuss. It's really that good! I was expecting a much more flamboyant interior design for the K9, but the centre console looked too much like the K7 smaller brother (also like the Peugeot 508 aye?) Well, as for the HUD, I love the Kia's. That's what a true HUD should be - giving lots of info for the driver to see at a glance. In the BMW 7-Series, there're only speed limiters, navigation direction and speed. That's about it..... The only limiting factor is the lack of lower engine cc for both the Equus and K9.... BMW has 3.0IL6, S-Class has 3.5V6 for petrol and 2.1 Turbo Diesel for the S250CDI.....

TheRationalVoice 1st Gear May 22, 2012 Share May 22, 2012 Basic specs seem ok. Need to test drive to judge. But for the anticipated price, there are better cars out there. On that account, I would skip this car.
Holdenutessv Turbocharged May 22, 2012 Share May 22, 2012 Genesis's competitor.
Proton_neutron 1st Gear May 22, 2012 Share May 22, 2012 Easily beat S Class?? Can say something easier to believe? S-Class in basic trim isn't fantastic to begin with. The Hyundai Equus easily trumps on interior build, and fit & finish. But the new model W222 will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show come this September. We'll see till then. Proton_neutron 1st Gear May 22, 2012 Share May 22, 2012 Genesis's competitor. Size wise, the K9 is really based on the Equus. =D There will be a new Genesis next year as well.

ER-3682 Supersonic May 22, 2012 Share May 22, 2012 For a Korean high end model, it is difficult to sell locally. Even the K5 which is a beauty, I seldom see it on the road. Agreed,it will be price at about $270k with C.O.E.,the businessman usually will go for the Mercedes or BMW.,at this price, the middle class is out of reach. Proton_neutron 1st Gear May 22, 2012 Share May 22, 2012 Yup. Uniquely Singapore pricing..... The Hyundai Equus is selling surprisingly well in USA =D But Hyundai has to have its own luxury marque to market these cars....
Tayspiderx 3rd Gear May 23, 2012 Author Share May 23, 2012 If 270k it will be far off its fleet average pricing. On rough guide Azera used to sell at 90k when COE @ 18k, so if COE @ current 90k, its close to 162k. But still, Azera is K7 equivalent, which means K9 would be higher than 162k. Sat in once before in Korea for the airport to hotel service. Very very comfortable, powerful and quiet ride. In relative compared for a airport to hotel transfer service in Taiwan, I had sat in the BMW 740iL and MB S350L, both did not give me as good feel as the Equus when sitting behind.
