Mllcg 3rd Gear July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 I always like to tell people who complain about flight delay due to technical problems: "Would you prefer to fly on a plane with problems?" lol. nice way to put it
Proton_neutron 1st Gear July 17, 2012 Share July 17, 2012 And surprisingly, the Korean English standards these days are much better than Singapore! Not to critique them or what, but their improvements made to learn the English language and to master it awards applauding! *Koreans didn't see the need to learn another language, as Korean serves them well in their country. =D. Here in Singapore??? English standard okok only, Mother Tongue, don't have to say luh.....
13177 Hypersonic July 18, 2012 Share July 18, 2012 Flight delay all depends on your luck lo. I was on cathay twice last year, both flights was also delay!
Robo 2nd Gear July 18, 2012 Share July 18, 2012 well at times i rather they delay then to take off with a plane that is doubtful of technical problems. thats probably y SQ is one of the few that has very very few accidents. so far my experience with SQ is good. very very seldom late. i think silkair more prone to delays. 3x on silkair 3xall delay by 1 hr. once i was in phuket, they say incoming ride is delayed.. so i happily go massage with wifey first with 30mins to the ETD(after delay) i walk to the gate and guess wad... every single soul is on board! i havent even sit down the plane start to taxi already... damn paiseh on my part. by far on SQ except 380 and 340 i havent try rest i should have already taken and 90% all on time departure. like say ETD 0900 by 0900 the plane either close door or already on taxi. few times by 0900 they already on queue to take off. maybe i am lucky.. or maybe this year i only take SQ twice, i heard this year their standard drop alot. Robo 2nd Gear July 18, 2012 Share July 18, 2012 i see some also complain abt SQ girls are very hostile. i find them ok, maybe its always good to approach them with a smile and it doesnt hurt to be patient and add a please and thank you when requesting for stuff instead of demanding. so far i never had much problems. some can chat up easily even, flirt a little here and there also no probs. u be nice they will also do the same. Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic July 18, 2012 Author Share July 18, 2012 Sad that SQ retire its fleet of B744 This plane sure very old, confirm & double confirm... Same here.. all my experience with SQ are positive. They almost always close one eye to overweight luggage, especially if you're a Singaporean returning to Singapore. Once i checked in 30+kg while flying Economy (Allowance was 20kg). If the flight is not full, the check in counter will always seat beside an empty seat. Never had any problems with their in-flight services too (Maybe also because i'm not particular kind). The only delay i had on SQ is due to airport authorities last minute changing the landing runway, end up the plane circle for 40mins to reapproach another runway.. SQ is the only plane i go up can sleep like a baby.. body aches inevitable as sleeping in a sitting position. LL i small fry not allowed to fly business. They allowed 10kg excess for your luggage without charging you?! I thought plus minus 5 kgs, maybe they still close one eye. I hate plane circling when they have reached the destination and yet cannot land. I have experienced before the plane circle nearly 2 hours due to foggy weather! Junjie 1st Gear July 18, 2012 Share July 18, 2012 Have to agree that SIA need to work harder as the rest are catching up and even perform better. I guess one area to seriously look into is the Krisflyer program, the new site is still a joke and not really user friendly, system alway have problems, i.e I try to do internet check-in while I in US flying back to SIN, the site will show having problem but my friend on the same flight can do internet check-in. Encounter such scenario couple of times, kind of frustrating! And now, we cannot do cancellation but need to go down to their office!!! The lounge in T3 is a joke! more like a office building canteen. And the food menu remained the same for too long to be interesting. T2 lounge is good after renovation but the one in T3 is really terrible. Have noticed seem liked all the star alliance lounges in other airports are much better compared to ours. I really like their luggage policy for Singaporeans.. that's why after a long overseas trip (especially for work), the best sight i see is the SIA plane waiting at the apron area to take me home.. For long overnight flights, i usually ask for eye cover and request them not to disturb me during meal times.. And i can lean back my seats all the way without the person behind me noticing at all. And my company recently stop all business class flights, even for CEO.. Edited July 18, 2012 by Shull

Yup.. coming back from Melbourne last year.. i was already prepared to take out some food from my check in luggage for my relatives to bring back home, but the check in counter lady says it's ok.. My colleague's case.. flying back from Vietnam, there was a huge thunderstorm over Changi and his plane can't land. End up, the plan have to fly to KL to refuel and return back to SG.. delayed for 2 hrs+ in total.. Edited July 18, 2012 by Shull
A345 Neutral Newbie July 18, 2012 Share July 18, 2012 Guys if you notice...SQ never score well on Skytrax. Yes they might get 1st in certain categories here and there but Skytrax always share the pie with many other airlines. Some of them is beyond imagination how they ended up as 5 star or even in the top 10. But thats Skytrax. Those who are in the airline industry or enthusiasts knows how to take this online survey with a pinch of salt. 18m ppl contributed to the survey for 2012 result?? Seriously? I never knew Skytrax is more popular than American Idol. Anyways publications like Conde nest or Business travellers are a stronger tool to measure because their surveys are based on those who subscribe to the magazines itself base on continents and regions. And those who actually travels. But Skytrax knows well when to release their findings...And most of the time taking advantage of events like Airshows for Free publicity perhaps. And airlines like Qatar and Malaysia always boast their winnings based on Skytrax in their commercials. Thats another free publicity for Skytrax btw. So why QR and MH wins in Skytrax over n over again? SQ clinched many awards in fact it was and is the most awarded airline in the world...Just not from Skytrax but other publications. Having said that, SQ qualities did deteorate and so are the rest. I do travel extensively on SQ/TG n CX and "most" of my experience on TG n CX are never better than SQ. Among these 3 I rate SQ/CX/TG...But TG does charge the lowest from SIN in biz class. [rolleyes]
