Mkl22 Supersonic April 15, 2015 Share April 15, 2015 Mine with attached toilet and use baby powder too... windows don't open though its the dampness and powder for sure. One way to combat the powder is to use a pre filter. I use daiso aircon filters to trap the dust so that the fins and fan blades do not get clogged up so fast. ↡ Advertisement
Lala81 Hypersonic April 15, 2015 Share April 15, 2015 When i first moved in, i considered want to clean myself. But after seeing the professionals do it, haha i rather pay pple to do it. Anyone knows a good service adhoc one? GC the guy who did it for me, quite good. but bit expensive for once off, their package one, must be done quarterly type. i use the following to clean. but got to be free to do lah 1) karcher steam cleaner All i can say that karcher products are ridiculously loud. I will never buy another karcher product. Really baka insanely loud with zero soundproofing in the device. >110-120db easily
Rayleigh 6th Gear April 15, 2015 Share April 15, 2015 (edited) I'm wondering whether we can take out the blower drum to wash ourselves. Saw some YouTube demo, its v complicated. Blowers always coated with dust. I can get access to it by taking out the louvers. Use cloth to wipe it. But not good enough. Dust are still within the grooves. I do dismantle the fan coil unit and wash the blower myself. How did i learn to dismantle? When my aircon was newly installed, it experienced a mechanical fault, the servicing team came to perform a diagnostic test. During the process, I asked lots of questions and I requested an elderly technician to show me how to dismantle. I can still remember him and he patiently showed me the procedure. That was how I pick up the skill. Seven years liao, I have been doing the cleaning myself. However, I will have to stick to the same brand for subsequent aircon as it is the only brand I know how to dismantle. hahaha....... Fan coil blower is not easy to clean. It is brittle and gaps between are so narrow not to mention that there are hundreds of gaps on the blower. Usually i soak it in breach solution or hot soda water. It is tiring but the satisfaction arises from the fresh air and efficient air flow after each clean. It is important to maintain a clean blower to maximize the air flow at highest efficiency. Donut Supercharged April 16, 2015 Share April 16, 2015 i use the following to clean. but got to be free to do lah 1) karcher steam cleaner 2) water spray 3) lots of rugs placed on the floor basically the theory is this: water + steam pressure will unclog the dirt from the fan lourvers and the metallic fins. the water will carry the dirt dowm from the aircon. thats is why you need lots of rugs. arm power got to be strong also because the water spray not exactly light unless you do from a tall ladder. remember the steam cleaner, only use the steam only, cannot use all the brush. wait make spoil the aircon. no physical contact of steam cleaner equipement and aircon. aircon very delcate watering spray alone not good enought because no pressure steam cleaner alone not good enough because no medium to trap dirt water + steam = clean steam cleaner 100 plus a bit can already, no need very powerful one water dont spray too much, wait splash everywhere dont go and spray the circuit board portion, that one is owneself look for trouble yours is probably the best DIY way. Damm, why can't air con companies air con to be more user friendly in DIY cleaning I always see this product Aircon Care that allows ppl to clean the air con, using the water spray and some chemicals I do dismantle the fan coil unit and wash the blower myself. Adrianli Hypersonic April 16, 2015 Share April 16, 2015 thanks. you are lucky to have someone teaching you. i'm quite tempted to sign up for air con maintenance course in ITE. You can sign up at any Home-fix outlet as member. Then select the various available workshop to attend. Or suggest to them which course u interested and they gather numbers to conduct the workshop. I am a member and always receive their newsletter. But do note the courses got no certification one, just enough knowledge for one's DIY. http://www.home-fix.com/home-fix-workshop-events-list

Just playing the devil's advocate here. In my opinion, it is not very wise to perform PM for your fan coil unit FCU this way. I think that performing in-situ cleaning/washing is more advisable for the following reasons. 1. If you stick to a PM frequency of 3 months, you hardly will end up with such a clogged up FCU which requires drastic cleaning i.e. dismantling. 2. The refrigerant gas is in a closed loop. Every time you dismantle the FCU, you essentially have to create an open loop and you are in fact creating an open loop everytime you take down the FCU. Bear in mind the wear and tear of the fitting joints. Unless you are able to perform a system leak rate check which i doubt so. 3. Also the FCU is very fragile due to the compactness of the entire setup. If there is a hole in the heat exchanger coil, you can try to epoxy the hole but otherwise game over. 4. Why run the risk of condemning your FCU over an additional 15% cleaning efficiency?
Blueblueman 4th Gear June 17, 2015 Share June 17, 2015 Hi all, I understand after years of usage if there's a leak at fancoil or pipe is inevitable But any bros here noticed your outdoor unit aka compressor or condenser got leakage?? My new Panasonic leaking and agent saying it's very normal due to condensation And thing is I got 2 outdoor unit while only one leaks Feeling cham for a new unit
Yslim79 4th Gear June 17, 2015 Share June 17, 2015 Erm Condensation is normal but not the leakage. If drainage is ok then water from condensation should be drained off properly with no leaking. Depending on your configuration, maybe 1 of the compressor is over utilized?
Kb27 Supersonic June 17, 2015 Share June 17, 2015 The only thing aircon can leak is gas. When you see water, it's always atmospheirc moisture condensed into water.

Yes, that's what the agent technician told me. Saying our climate that's why condensation takes place But then I got 2 units and on at the same time. Puzzled Erm Condensation is normal but not the leakage. If drainage is ok then water from condensation should be drained off properly with no leaking. I can't put it as leakage, sorry for confusion We on one compressor for 8 hrs, nothing found underneath the compressor We on the other compressor for 8 hrs, it's always damp underneath this compressor

It was "leaking" below. Well, actually, it was due to the 2 cold pipes hidden beneath the cover and water condensed there. Once there's cold pipes, you will see water. They are wrapped in insulation, sometimes it trapped condensed water, which is probably far worse. I removed the cover and see how it goes.
Blueblueman 4th Gear June 20, 2015 Share June 20, 2015 Wa bro u know how to clean own compressor?
