Liping24cn Clutched August 4, 2012 Share August 4, 2012 Looking at archery n pistol shooting, n other 'less' physical games. I was wondering why Singapore don support such games instead? The training is 'less' strenuous, and should be more acceptable. I mean how difficult is shooting n archery? Make it compulsory in schools, to Suss out those with stable hands and good aim, and train them. Surely we can have better chance in such simpler games. Just open mouth and blabber away, dun need skills, dun even need brains. Anyway I saw the documentary on S.Korean's archery some time back, they have a regular national event for guys & gals. A lot of participants hence elimination rounds can go on for a few days. Defending champions start from the ground up together with other contestants. You will see a long line of archers shooting their targets until the last few archers standing after round & round of eliminations. It's a test of concentration and stamina. But the infrastructure needed to support these sports is another matter. The equipment is also not commonly available and thus not cheap. That's why these sports don't have much support locally and schools don't promote much. Equipment is costly, not so popular as a spectator sport (no rah-rah) and then you also need to host a firing range (for pistol shooting)... all not easy to do in singapore. The equipment is also not commonly available and thus not cheap. That's why these sports don't have much support locally and schools don't promote much. Equipment is costly, not so popular as a spectator sport (no rah-rah) and then you also need to host a firing range (for pistol shooting)... all not easy to do in singapore. not really. i saw malaysian and indonesian archers doing well in this olympics. They are developed through their school competitions. starter kits are not expensive. only the pro ones cost a lot.
