One interesting point, there should be a daily transfer limit and we dont usually set it to too high, how is the scammer able to transfer so much money off the account ? This is what the bank has to answer or unless the guy has, for some stupid reason set the transfer limit so high.

A lot of ppl don't check the default limit.

Default limit should be low,  cant be above 149k , this is why i am puzzled.

It's game over after the victim click 2FA on his banking app as he's basically handing over full control of his internet banking to the scammer. Some banks do mandate further 2FA to add new payee but others don't. It could also be multiple smaller transfers until account empty.

Many ppl still don't fully understand the purpose of 2FA.

Hmmm a single 2 FA response can lead to multiple transfer, you might be pointing out another loophole

Transfer also got limit.  I think default is 2k for POSB.

Payment limit also can change.

These conster may confused them with a series of transactions.

If it was really only one 2FA as he claimed then it can only be used for the initial login which implies the preset transfer limit must be at least 150k. Else a second 2FA will need to be authorized to increase the limit further. Sometimes victim in distress may not tell or remember all details.

Sharing my personal experience, I did a five figure wire to a newly created overseas payee. Went through all 2FA and completed transfer with no errors. But when I called the bank to double confirm, I was told the transfer was silently blocked by the fraud detection system and they have to manually override it before I can transfer again. This was with Citi so not sure others work the same way.

Experienced scammers typically make smaller multiple transfers to avoid triggering any fraud detection. But then not all banks fraud detection are made equal (eg: recent OCBC fiasco).

I ever kenna a scam from singtel.  What happened is singtel sent an sms on a link.  I opened up.  It was some kind of program.  Do i want to sign up for it and pay monthly subscription?  I click "NO" and the message was "thank you for subscribing".

Called singtel hotline and the CSO ask me why i click yes.  I told him i click no and the no was yes. He said it was a third party website so not sure what he can do but will try.  He managed to cancel the transaction.

So for this case, not sure if it's technologically possible.  Let's say he log in to CASE (spoof website).  He fills in his particulars. On the scammer screen, the particulars to fill up the authorisation form to increase banking limit, change handphone number for otp or something (but account must have already been hacked la).  Then when he click "submit" on the spoof website, the particulars are ported over to the scammer's computer.  Any otp will now go to scammer's phone.

To the victim, he made no purchase.  He made no banking transaction.  But he lost a lot of money
