If its performance and value for money, have u considered Godzilla aka Nissan GTR? Or M3? Or Rs5? They should be able to keepup with some lower end Porsches and some of the 3 makes are 2x2 coupes so u get to sit four...and thats more practical too. Are all Porsches Rear Engined and Flat Six? 911s, yes. Rear-engined, flat six, either naturally aspirated or turbocharged. Other models - no. Caymans are mid-engined but still have a flat six engine. Cayennes are front-engined and have a V8 engine (cylinders oriented 4-a-side along the arms of a "V"-shape). The older 944 model is a front engined, inline 4 (cylinders oriented vertically). And are there any other brands with this same set-up? Subarus come closest with their Impreza, Forrester and Legacy models. They are flat 4 models, though (only 4 cylinders, not 6). The turbo-charged versions that go into the WRX, STI, Legacy GT and Forrester Turbo models make very good power for the capacity and amenable to making more power with easy mods, which is why they're sought after as "boy-racer" cars. They have a beautiful sound (I feel it's even more distinctive and nicer than the Porsche sound, honestly) - and I've owned 2 WRXs before (note my username). The new Toyota FT86/Subaru BRZ (Subaru designed the engine) uses the same flat 4 engine, albeit naturally aspirated. This is done to keep the centre of gravity low to aid cornering stability. Infact Godzilla was designed to take out the 911 Rs5 has 4.2L engine that has almost same setup as the Entry version of the Audi R8....oh yah the Audi R8 is another contender... And the M3 is legendary....it keeps up and can beat the Rs5 on track... Its not very nice coming to a Porsche tread and saying out right that these cars er..."would have most Porsches for bfast, lunch and dinner.." even if the statement was true that would also invite some attacks. So better for me to say the more diplomatically correct statement that they can keep up with the porkers, AND THEY CAN!!! THAT TOO IS FACTUALLY TRUE. If they can out run a Porker, then by definition they can also keep up with a Porker.... So diplomacy and politness is the order of the day..... brudder... obviously you not sure of the performance of the cars you mention lor... a gtr, m3 and rs5 would have majority porsches for breakfast, lunch and dinner... I see Porsche's decision to get the Panemera and SUV on the factory line as a recognition that they need to reach out also to a wider mass market and produce cars that can seat four for the whole family....for family oriented folks like u.. I wonder if in good time Ferrari or Aston Martin or Lambo will follow....Maserati has the Quottro.....or maybe not and they will continue to produce mainly "selfish cars"....thats what my wife calls the 2 seater coupes anyway...
