Call for public feedback on COE

Motorcycles are often regarded as dangerous, but that's mainly because they have to negotiate bigger vehicles.

OTOH, if *everyone* drove 2-wheelers, we'd free up a ton of space *and* riding would be quite safe. If shelter is an issue, there are covered 3-wheeler scooters, and those can be allowed.

Heavy vehicles would remain necessary for industry, but those can be restricted very strictly (under penalty of complete disqualification and loss of employment) to a single lane on the left with clear rules on when and how they can come out to make a turn to the right.

Just playing devil's advocate, haha. :D

Drivers are not all saints, but neither are all motorcyclists. Yes, sometimes drivers drive dangerously and endanger motorcyclists, but motorcyclists are also equally guilty.

Your idea for DQ of heavy vehicles on wrong lane is something to think of. See some heavy trucks driving on middle lane quite dangerously. And blocks the views of drivers behind.

Ban dealers from bidding COE - it is the job of the highly paid scholars to think of how to cover all the loopholes dealers may use to bypass the system.

You think they really care?

It is not a world first, they have already done so for the property market. and since that is raking in millions of additional stamp duty for the IRAS, so the scholars at MOT/LTA feel that they cannot lose out and should do the same to get more income for the government with the same method.

gov got themselves to blame for the huge release which is now haunting them.

No matter who rules the country, dun see the coe is an easy thing to solve. Easy to say lets remove coe and let the roads jam and people will not drive..... there is lots of implication including loss economic value (people should be working instead of being stuck in jams). Easy to say dealers is the ones pushing up the coe..... yes to a certain extend but do you see anyone complaining during the era of low coe? Bottomline, its still the price of coe that people are unhappy about. People just need a "scrap goat" to vent their anger or pin point their fingers.

This exercise of feedback might be a way to justify that the next policy change is base not solely on their own decision but on peoples' feedback to cushion any negative result/unhappiness as a result of policy implemention.

yup, that I see is probably the only motivation for it.

Frankly, u think the masses can think of any good policies? EVen if they have, it is by luck/chance as they don't have access to all the numbers/info.

Even if it is not about making policies and just getting the views of the people, the sample size is too small to be of any use.

I would like COE to be low when I buy a car

and COE to be high after I have bought a car

so that the roads are not clogged up.

I respect people who have a different opinion

and anyone who wants the opposite of me

is welcome to voice his or her opinion.

:D
